Computer Magic Lyrics

He fell just now but he always does
Looking at the stars he's feeling lonely
Looking at the stars he's feeling lost
Can't see through the fog it's getting brighter
Asteroids collecting in my mind
Sweeping them out with my obscenities
Spaces between us on and on and on
Do I just face it
Only the sky can hide what I am feeling
Spaces between us on and on and on
Do I just face it
Only the sky can hide what I am feeling
He prays cause he knows he's not a fighter
No one knows that he believes but I digress
He takes what he needs a true survivor
He's wrecking everything
He's so perfect
Spaces between us on and on and on
Do I just face it
Only the sky can hide what I am feeling
Spaces between us on and on and on
Do I just face it
Only the sky can hide what I am feeling
The lyrics of Computer Magic's song "Spaces" depict a sense of loneliness and longing for connection. The singer, described as "he," is depicted taking a walk, possibly as a form of escapism. However, he falls and seems to always feel lost in life. Looking at the stars symbolizes his desire for something greater, but it also intensifies his feelings of loneliness. The fog he can't see through represents the confusion and uncertainty he experiences.
The mention of asteroids collecting in his mind suggests that his thoughts and worries are accumulating and becoming overwhelming. To cope with this, he uses obscenities as a way to clear his mind temporarily. This imagery creates a metaphor for the emotional clutter and chaos he faces.
The chorus explores the recurring theme of "spaces between us." This could refer to physical distance between people or an emotional disconnect. The repetition suggests an ongoing struggle to bridge these gaps and fully connect with others. The question of whether to face these spaces head-on or hide behind them is raised, with the implication that the sky, representing a vast and mysterious expanse, is the only thing that can conceal or understand his true feelings.
The second verse introduces another layer to the singer's character. Despite not being a fighter, he prays and holds onto his beliefs in secret. This contradiction highlights the complexity of his emotions and the internal battles he may face. He is described as a survivor, but also as someone who wrecks everything, possibly indicating a self-destructive tendency.
Overall, "Spaces" captures the feelings of isolation, longing, and inner turmoil that many individuals may experience in their lives. It's a reflection on the struggles of human connection and the challenges of navigating through one's emotions.
