Singer / songwriter / bassist Napolitano formed the band Dream 6 with guitarist James Mankey in Los Angeles in 1982, releasing an eponymous EP in France on the Happy Hermit label in 1983. When they signed with IRS in 1986, labelmate Michael Stipe suggested the name Concrete Blonde, describing the contrast between their hard rock music and introspective lyrics. They were joined by drummer Harry Rushakoff on their eponymous debut album. Roxy Music drummer Paul Thompson replaced Rushakoff on Bloodletting and several tracks on Mexican Moon, while Rushakoff was in treatment for drug addiction. Rushakoff was kicked out of the band in 2002 for failing to show up for several rehearsals and shows. He was replaced by Gabriel Ramirez.
Their most popular album was 1990's Bloodletting. The band broke up in 1995, but reunited in 2001, releasing Group Therapy in 2002 and Mojave in 2004.

And the rhythm of the rain
And the rhythm of a heartbeat
And (?) you again
And you do not see the color
And you do not see the reason
And you do not understand these things
And the wisdom of the ages
Meets the wisdom of the moment
And the future past and present
Is the feeling or the touch
And the walking hand you feel it
And it follows like a wind
And the voices in your ear
Are telling you so much
Some call it allah
Some call it god
Some call it buddha
I call it love
Some call it power
Come from above
Some call it jesus
I call it love
When you're guilty of compassion
It's the border of (?)
On the international
Binding us together
When the song is all around you
Telling you be free
And the force has finally found you
And it's everything you need
Some call it allah
Some call it god
Some call it buddha
I call it love
Some call it power
Come from above
Some call it jesus
I call it love
Some call it allah
Some call it god
Some call it buddha
I call it love
Some call it power
Come from above
Some call it jesus
I call it love
Some call it power
Come from above
Some call it jesus
I call it love
Some call it allah
Some call it jesus
The song "I Call It Love" by Concrete Blonde is a beautiful ode to the unifying force of love. The opening lines of the song talk about listening to the rhythms of nature - the ocean, the rain, and the heartbeat. The singer then goes on to say that she doesn't see color, reason or religious differences. She only understands the deep connection that comes from embracing love. The song goes on to say that the wisdom of the ages and the present come together in the feeling of touch, and the voices in our ears guide us towards this unifying force.
The song then goes on to talk about how this force of love can be called by different names like Allah, God, and Buddha. The singer then goes on to say that she calls it love. The song emphasizes that love is not just limited to religious connotations but is also present in the feelings of compassion and humanity that bind us together.
The last few lines of the song make it clear that love is not specific to any one religion but transcends all boundaries. It is a universal feeling that has been called different names over time. The song thus stands as a powerful reminder of the force of love that unites us all.
