One of their songs from their debut album The Concretes, "Say Something New", has been featured on a number of television advertisements in the United States for Target. "You Can't Hurry Love", also from their debut album, has been heavily used in major motion pictures and other films. Their second album, In Colour, was released in 2006. It was followed shortly after by the departure of lead singer Victoria Bergsman, who has since moved on to her solo project, Taken By Trees.[1] Lisa Milberg now provides lead vocals for the band, both on stage and on the band's third album Hey Trouble, released early 2007.
In 2007, The Concretes recorded a cover version of Take That's "Back for Good" for Engine Room Recordings' compilation album Guilt by Association, released September 2007.
Maria Eriksson is also half of the band Heikki, with guitarist Jari Haapalainen. They released their self-titled debut, a mini-CD, in Scandinavia in 2002. The follow-up, Heikki 2, appeared in 2004.
The Concretes have recently announced that they are in the process of recording their fourth album, WYWH set to be released in October 2010. The first single released was Good Evening.
Lisa Milberg also makes music on her own, under the name Milberg. Her first solo album was released in 2009.
This One's For You
Concretes Lyrics

This one's for you
And if you turn around or shake your arms
I'd love you
Can't be denied
I had you in mind
Though I know you'll be the last to know
This one's for you
This one's for you
And if you turn around or shake your arms
I'd love you
Here comes the dark
Here comes the dark
Here comes the dark
Well I know the dark
I know the dark
I know the dark
He knows she knows
She knows he knows the dark
The lyrics of "For the Standing Ones" by Concrete are a beautiful expression of love and devotion for someone who might not even be aware of the songwriter's feelings. The repetition of "this one's for you" shows a sense of persistence and the desire to be seen and appreciated by the object of affection. The line "if you turn around or shake your arms, I'd love you" is an interesting one, as it suggests that even the tiniest gestures or movements made by the person being addressed are meaningful and cherished. The lyrics capture the vulnerability of being in love and the fear of not being reciprocated.
The second half of the song takes a darker turn with the repeated phrases "here comes the dark" and "I know the dark". This could be interpreted in different ways, perhaps as a warning of impending doom or simply as an acknowledgement of the struggles and challenges that come with life. The line "he knows she knows, she knows he knows the dark" suggests a shared understanding of pain and hardship in the relationship. Despite this, there is still a sense of loyalty and the desire to continue supporting each other through difficult times.
Overall, "For the Standing Ones" is a heartfelt and poetic expression of love and devotion, with a sense of both light and dark woven throughout.
