I've Had Enough
Conflict Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

This is mankind and mankind kills
You think that women are just here for thrills
Your filthy morals just fucking stink
Don't try and get my hands in your sink
Don't call me your "bird"; I'm not your pet
Well, I've had enough, right up to my neck

This is mankind and mankind kills
Why should women be raped at your will?
This is mankind and mankind kills
Why should women pay for man's thrills?

Why don't you get married?
Wear that wedding ring?
Can't she see it's the only respectable thing?
She'll cook his meals

Sleep in his bed
Do anything he says

Overall Meaning

The song "I've Had Enough" by Conflict is a powerful and provocative protest song that deals with issues of misogyny, sexism, and violence against women. The lyrics explicitly condemn the patriarchal society that allows men to dominate and exploit women, both physically and psychologically. The opening line, "This is mankind and mankind kills," sets the tone for the rest of the song, which goes on to criticize the objectification of women and the glorification of male power.

The lyrics expose the ways in which women are often reduced to nothing more than sexual objects, with men using them for their own pleasure and amusement. The line "You think that women are just here for thrills" represents this objectification, highlighting the way that men view women as something to be used and discarded. This kind of behavior is further criticized in the lyrics "Your filthy morals just fucking stink/Don't try and get my hands in your sink," which suggest that men's attitudes towards women are not only morally reprehensible but also dirty and repulsive.

Wow, this song and the whole anarcho-punk sub-culture changed my life.

Loved this song since I first heard it in the early/mid 80's. Lyrics are sadly more relevant than ever, as our world and its greedy overlords have more power than ever before.
Keep fighting the good Fight my friends :)

One of the few Crass records singles I didn't own, they go for a pretty penny on Ebay these days. Ironic as they all cost under a quid.
