Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Conkarah's song "Banana" are centered around the idea of a man who is coveted by women because he is a banana farmer – so much so that "demand exceeds supply." The song's opening gives a hint of the sort of "dilemma" this man is facing, and then quickly jumps to the chorus whereby the "girls from near and far a request mi banana." In the verse, Conkarah talks about the diversity of the women attracted to him, from a Latina girl from Columbia to two French girls who want to "share one."

The chorus and verse repeat, with the addition of a few humorous moments such as a girl who sneaks out in the middle of the night to climb up the banana tree and grab some of the man's bananas. Despite the somewhat suggestive tone of the song, Conkarah presents himself as a cheeky character, with tongue-in-cheek lines such as "dem seh di length and size mek dem weak, yuh nuh see it?"

In essence, the song is a highly sexualized and comical salute to a banana farmer who is highly sought after by women, enticed by his ability to provide them with what they want – his "banana."
