Let Go
Connie Constance Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Let go of me
Let go of me

You're the one keeping me from myself
You're mind is lost inside cloudery, you need help

Let go of me
Let go of me

Bluntly as it seems
I don't think you are good for me
Natural melodies, straight from the birds
Seem more complete
Than you and me

Bluntly as it seems
I don't think you are good for me
No no no no
Natural melodies, straight from the birds
Seem more complete
Than you and me

Don't go, I need you
Don't go, I need you

You're the one that's stopping me
From falling down
Down down
Protecting me
Tying my laces three times

So don't go, I need you
Don't leave, I'll please you

Bluntly as it seems
I don't think I know what's good for me
Natural melodies, straight from the birds
Are more complete than I'll ever be

Bluntly as it seems
I don't think I know what's good for me, no
Natural melodies, straight from the birds

Are more complete than I'll ever be
Than I'll ever be

Overall Meaning

The first set of lyrics "Let go of me" repeated twice sets the tone for a song immersed in a tense and emotionally-conflicted atmosphere. It indicates a desire that one person has to let go of someone else who is holding them back, yet the repetition of the phrase also suggests that letting go is not an easy decision. The first verse highlights the reasons for this tension as the singer indicates that the person holding on to them is preventing them from realizing their true potential. Instead, they are lost in a state of confusion or "cloudery" and need help.

The second set of lyrics "Don't go, I need you" further contribute to the complex emotions portrayed in the song. The singer acknowledges that the person holding on to them is also protecting them and being a supportive presence in their life. There is a sense of reluctance to completely let go of someone so important in their life, which is reinforced by the second verse where the singer turn the analysis inwards. They understand that they themselves are not sure what is good for them, casting doubt on their decision-making ability. Despite this, they still feel that the organic, natural melodies of the world around them are more complete than any relationship they could have with another human being.

In summary, "Let Go" is a song rife with contrasting emotions as the singer attempts to grapple with the decision to let go of someone who is potentially holding them back from reaching their full potential. The lyrics also subtly imply that the decision to let go is not an easy one as there is a sense of reluctance to end the relationship completely, given the positive effects it has on their life.

Thank you, Connie. This music means so incredibly much to me. The deep, intern struggle for the longing of a love that can never be experienced again. It takes me into a state of mind where I can grief about what I have lost so that I am finally able to close the chapter and preserve it as a beautiful memory instead of being in a continuous sorrow and painful desire. Thank you... <3
