Somewhere
Connie Fisher & Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There's a place for us, somewhere a place for us
Peace and quiet and open air, wait for us somewhere

There's a time for us, someday a time for us
Time together with time to spare, time to learn, time to care

Someday, somewhere, we'll find a new way of living
We'll find a way of forgiving, somewhere

There's a place for us, a time and place for us
Hold my hand and we're half-way there, hold my hand and I'll take you there

Somehow, someday, somewhere

Overall Meaning

Connie Fisher's song "Somewhere" centers around the idea of finding a place of peace and belonging. The repeated phrase "there's a place for us, somewhere a place for us" speaks to the desire for a home and a sense of belonging. The lyrics also touch on the idea of time, with the lines "there's a time for us, someday a time for us, time together with time to spare, time to learn, time to care." This emphasis on time suggests that perhaps life has not yet provided the sense of belonging that the singer seeks, but that it will come in its own time.

The chorus brings the song to a triumphant close, with the lines "someday, somewhere, we'll find a new way of living, we'll find a way of forgiving, somewhere." This suggests that the singer is looking for more than just a physical place, but a new way of being in the world that is characterized by forgiveness and understanding.

Overall, "Somewhere" is a song about the human need for connection and belonging, and the hope that such a place exists, even if it has not yet been found.

@redhawke22

the only version I have heard that is comparable to Barbara Streisand... but Connie must be British?? all the British singers pronounce halfway as haafway, it is annoying.
