Just One Time
Connie Smith Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Just One Time
If I could see you just one time
Oh how it'd ease my troubled mind
If I could hold you just one time

And then pretend that you're still mine
Lips that used to thrill me so t
Hey now thrill someone else I know
Gone is the love that once was mine
Wish I could see you just one time

[Chorus]
Oh oh oh how I miss you so
Oh I need you so
I I I'd give this heart of mine
Wish I could relive just one time

Turn back the pages and there I'd find
That same old love that once was mine
Wish I could see you just one time

[Chorus]

Overall Meaning

Connie Smith's song Just One Time is a melancholic ballad where the singer is pining for a lost love. The song begins with the singer wishing to see their former lover just once to ease their troubled mind. They yearn to hold their lover for a moment and pretend like they are still together. The singer laments that the passion they once shared has now fizzled out, and their lover's kisses don't thrill them anymore. They are resigned to the fact that their lover has moved on and is with someone else.

The chorus is a heartfelt expression of how deeply the singer misses their former lover. They would give anything to relive the moments they spent together just one more time. The lyrics convey a sense of longing, regret and sorrow that many can relate to. The singer's memories keep haunting them, and they wish they could turn back time to when their love was still alive.

The song captures the bittersweet emotion of reminiscing about a lost love. With its plaintive melody and heartfelt lyrics, it has become one of the quintessential classic country love songs.

I ran into a HUGE

A simple, but good
song. A song with momentum like
this and repetition of the final lyrics is always better served with
an extended fade out ending. My ears were really
prepared for this,
rather than the song ending with
a dragging, abrupt
conclusion. The
preferred ending
would be to keep
you dancing to the
end.
