Lailailailailailalai

The song "Ome Arie" by Conny Vandenbos tells the story of a beloved figure in the neighborhood known as Ome Arie. He was a former circus strongman known as Mister Martokari and performed on the local fairground. Ome Arie was a kind man who loved children and often opened his home to them. He would perform his strongman skills and offer them lemonade and candy. The children appreciated him and visited regularly. When they had problems or trouble at home, Ome Arie was there to lend an ear and offer advice. He was a trusted friend to all the kids in the neighborhood.
The song is a tribute to Ome Arie's humility and kindness. He was not interested in flashy things or trying to impress others with his strength. He was simply a good-hearted man who loved children and wanted to help them. His title of "Ome" was more fitting than "Meneer" (Sir) because it conveyed the intimacy of the relationship he had with the children. The song is a reminder of the impact one person can have on a community and how their kindness can be remembered long after they are gone.
