Origin of Jenkins Stage Name--------- Jenkins felt that his real name wasn't marketable, and he changed his show business name in 1957. (Harold Lloyd Jenkins would always remain his legal name, however). Looking at a road map, he spotted Conway, Arkansas and Twitty, Texas. Thus, he went with the professional name of "Conway Twitty".[citation needed]
Alternatively, Jenkins met a Richmond, VA, man named W. Conway Twitty Jr. through Jenkins' manager in a New York City restaurant. The manager served in the army with the real Conway Twitty. Later, the manager suggested to Jenkins that he take the name as his stage name because it had a ring to it. The Richmond Conway Twitty subsequently recorded the song, "What's in a Name But Trouble," in the mid-1960s, lamenting the loss of his name to Jenkins. The flip side of the 45 RPM record was "The Purple, Purple People Eater, Eater." (The more well known version of Purple People Eater, however, now having sold over 100,000,000 copies, was recorded by Sheb Wooley.)
After All The Good Is Gone

Just a friend we knew some time ago
And as I read between the lines
I began to realize
He didn't know I lost you
A long long time ago
Oh, I, just can't make it any longer
Lord I'm just living a lie
And there's no need in trying
To keep hanging on
After all the good is gone
Lord I wish that I could die
And there's no use in trying
To keep hanging on
After all the good is gone
The lyrics to Conway Twitty's "After All The Good Is Gone" recount the story of a man who receives a letter from a friend they once knew, but as he reads it, he realizes that the friend didn't know that he had lost his significant other a long time ago. As he reflects on his life without his loved one, he begins to feel the weight of his loneliness and regrets. He admits that he can't keep going on this way and laments that he's been living a lie, with all his efforts leading to failure. He wishes he could die, but there's no use in trying to keep hanging on after all the good is gone.
The song strikes a melancholic chord, capturing the heartbreak of lost love and the regret that comes with it. The singer is trapped in the past, haunted by memories of a happier time that's now gone forever. He's resigned to the fact that he's unable to move on and trapped in a cycle of despair. The lyrics attribute a sense of finality to the end of a relationship, with no possibility of reconciliation or starting anew.

Today I got a letter from someone
I received a letter from an old acquaintance today
Just a friend we knew some time ago
We used to be friends, but haven't kept in touch for a while
And as I read between the lines
As I analyzed and interpreted what was written
I began to realize
I came to the conclusion
He didn't know I lost you
He wasn't aware that I had lost you
A long long time ago
It's been a significant amount of time since we parted ways
Oh, I, just can't make it any longer
I am unable to continue living like this
Everything I do is always wrong
I make mistakes no matter what I try to do
Lord I'm just living a lie
I am pretending that everything is okay when it's not
And there's no need in trying
There's no point in attempting to fix things
To keep hanging on
To continue holding on to something that's already gone
After all the good is gone
Once all the positive aspects are no longer present
Lord I wish that I could die
I wish I could pass away
And there's no use in trying
It's futile to attempt to change my situation
To keep hanging on
To keep grasping at something that is long gone
After all the good is gone
Once all the good things have disappeared
