Origin of Jenkins Stage Name--------- Jenkins felt that his real name wasn't marketable, and he changed his show business name in 1957. (Harold Lloyd Jenkins would always remain his legal name, however). Looking at a road map, he spotted Conway, Arkansas and Twitty, Texas. Thus, he went with the professional name of "Conway Twitty".[citation needed]
Alternatively, Jenkins met a Richmond, VA, man named W. Conway Twitty Jr. through Jenkins' manager in a New York City restaurant. The manager served in the army with the real Conway Twitty. Later, the manager suggested to Jenkins that he take the name as his stage name because it had a ring to it. The Richmond Conway Twitty subsequently recorded the song, "What's in a Name But Trouble," in the mid-1960s, lamenting the loss of his name to Jenkins. The flip side of the 45 RPM record was "The Purple, Purple People Eater, Eater." (The more well known version of Purple People Eater, however, now having sold over 100,000,000 copies, was recorded by Sheb Wooley.)

Every dream has only brought me pain
All my life I've always been so blue
Born to lose and now I'm losin' you
Born to lose it's been so hard to bear
And when I've waited and I found that you're not there
You've grown tired and now you say we're through
Mhm all my life I've always been so blue
Born to lose and now I'm I'm losin' you
The song "Born to Lose" is a lamentation of a man who feels he is doomed to a life of constant failure and heartbreak. He has suffered countless disappointments in his life and his dreams have only led to pain. His sense of despair seems rooted in a deep-seated belief that he is fundamentally flawed or cursed in some way, destined to come up short no matter how hard he tries.
The mood of the song is one of resignation and defeat, as the singer reflects on his long history of disappointment and his growing sense of isolation and loss. He is acutely aware of his own limitations and feels that he has been abandoned by the one person who gave him hope, heightening his feelings of betrayal and abandonment. The repetition of the phrase "Born to lose" reinforces the sense of inevitability and hopelessness that pervades the song.
Despite its somber tone, "Born to Lose" is also a powerful expression of human resilience and the enduring power of the human spirit in the face of adversity. It speaks to the universal struggle to find meaning and purpose in life, even when everything seems to be falling apart.
