Origin of Jenkins Stage Name--------- Jenkins felt that his real name wasn't marketable, and he changed his show business name in 1957. (Harold Lloyd Jenkins would always remain his legal name, however). Looking at a road map, he spotted Conway, Arkansas and Twitty, Texas. Thus, he went with the professional name of "Conway Twitty".[citation needed]
Alternatively, Jenkins met a Richmond, VA, man named W. Conway Twitty Jr. through Jenkins' manager in a New York City restaurant. The manager served in the army with the real Conway Twitty. Later, the manager suggested to Jenkins that he take the name as his stage name because it had a ring to it. The Richmond Conway Twitty subsequently recorded the song, "What's in a Name But Trouble," in the mid-1960s, lamenting the loss of his name to Jenkins. The flip side of the 45 RPM record was "The Purple, Purple People Eater, Eater." (The more well known version of Purple People Eater, however, now having sold over 100,000,000 copies, was recorded by Sheb Wooley.)

Nice to see you
It's been a long time
You're just as lovely as you used to be
How's your new love?
Are you happy?
Hope you're doin' fine
What's that darlin'?
How am I doin'?
Guess I'm doin' alright
Except I can't sleep
And I cry all night 'til dawn
What I'm tryin' to say is
I love you and I miss you
And I'm so sorry that I did you wrong
Look up, darlin'
Let me kiss you
Just for old time's sake
Let me hold you in my arms one more time
Thank you, darlin'
May God bless you
And may each step you take bring you closer
To the things you seek to find
Goodbye, darlin'
Got to go now
Got to try to find a way
To lose these memories
Of a love so warm and true
And if you should ever find it in your heart to forgive me
Come back, darlin'
I'll be waiting for you
Conway Twitty's song "Hello Darlin'" is a beautiful yet melancholic track that perfectly captures the sentiment of love gone wrong. The opening lyrics, "Hello darlin', nice to see you, it's been a long time, you're just as lovely as you used to be," immediately set the scene of a reunion between ex-lovers. The nostalgia in Conway's voice is palpable as he enquires about his ex's new love and expresses his hope that she is happy. It's clear that Conway still has feelings for his ex-lover and that he regrets breaking her heart.
The chorus beautifully expresses both Conway's love for his ex and his heartbreak. "What I'm tryin' to say is I love you and I miss you, and I'm so sorry that I did you wrong." As the song progresses, it's clear that Conway has been struggling to sleep and that his heartbreak is keeping him up at night. The bridge of the song is particularly poignant as he asks his ex to look up and let him kiss her, "just for old time's sake".
The final verse sees Conway bidding farewell to his ex-lover, acknowledging that he needs to find a way to move on from the memories of their love. He asks for her forgiveness before inviting her to return to him if she finds it in her heart to do so.
In concluding, "Hello Darlin'" is a powerful and emotional song that perfectly captures the feelings of an ex-lover who has lost the person they love. The track's melody and Conway's voice combine to make for a beautiful listening experience that will leave an impact on any listener.
