Origin of Jenkins Stage Name--------- Jenkins felt that his real name wasn't marketable, and he changed his show business name in 1957. (Harold Lloyd Jenkins would always remain his legal name, however). Looking at a road map, he spotted Conway, Arkansas and Twitty, Texas. Thus, he went with the professional name of "Conway Twitty".[citation needed]
Alternatively, Jenkins met a Richmond, VA, man named W. Conway Twitty Jr. through Jenkins' manager in a New York City restaurant. The manager served in the army with the real Conway Twitty. Later, the manager suggested to Jenkins that he take the name as his stage name because it had a ring to it. The Richmond Conway Twitty subsequently recorded the song, "What's in a Name But Trouble," in the mid-1960s, lamenting the loss of his name to Jenkins. The flip side of the 45 RPM record was "The Purple, Purple People Eater, Eater." (The more well known version of Purple People Eater, however, now having sold over 100,000,000 copies, was recorded by Sheb Wooley.)

And darlin' you will see
The reflection of an angel
(Oh)
That made a fool of me
(Oh)
Look into my teardrops
That promised me so many things
(Oh)
But all of them were lies
(Oh)
Look into my teardrops
In the mirror of my soul
(Soul)
And you will see the girl
Who's still my only world but I couldn't hold
Look into my teardrops
And you will see the one
That broke my heart forever
(Oh)
Aren't you proud of what you've done?
(Oh)
Look into my teardrops
In the mirror of my soul
(Soul)
And you will see the girl
Who's still my only world but I couldn't hold
Look into my teardrops
And you will see the one
That broke my heart forever
(Oh)
Aren't you proud of what you've done?
(Oh)
Look into my teardrops
In the mirror of my soul
(Soul)
And you will see the girl
Who's still my only world but I couldn't hold
Look into my teardrops
And you will see the one
That broke my heart forever
(Oh)
Aren't you proud of what you've done?
(Oh)
Conway Twitty's song "Look Into My Teardrops" is a heart-wrenching ballad about lost love and betrayal. The singer invites his former lover to look into his tears, believing that they will see the reflection of the angel he once thought she was. However, he soon reveals that this person made a fool out of him, promising him many things that turned out to be lies. The singer's pain is palpable as he sings about the girl who was his world but who he couldn't hold onto. He concludes by asking his former lover if she's proud of breaking his heart forever.
The song's lyrics are simple yet incredibly powerful. The singer's voice is full of emotion as he conveys the pain and sadness of losing someone he loved deeply. The repetition of the chorus gives the song a haunting quality, as if the singer is trying to hold onto a memory that refuses to let go.
Overall, "Look Into My Teardrops" is a poignant reminder of how painful love can be when it doesn't work out. It's a song that speaks to anyone who has ever loved and lost.
