Origin of Jenkins Stage Name--------- Jenkins felt that his real name wasn't marketable, and he changed his show business name in 1957. (Harold Lloyd Jenkins would always remain his legal name, however). Looking at a road map, he spotted Conway, Arkansas and Twitty, Texas. Thus, he went with the professional name of "Conway Twitty".[citation needed]
Alternatively, Jenkins met a Richmond, VA, man named W. Conway Twitty Jr. through Jenkins' manager in a New York City restaurant. The manager served in the army with the real Conway Twitty. Later, the manager suggested to Jenkins that he take the name as his stage name because it had a ring to it. The Richmond Conway Twitty subsequently recorded the song, "What's in a Name But Trouble," in the mid-1960s, lamenting the loss of his name to Jenkins. The flip side of the 45 RPM record was "The Purple, Purple People Eater, Eater." (The more well known version of Purple People Eater, however, now having sold over 100,000,000 copies, was recorded by Sheb Wooley.)
She Needs Someone to Hold Her
Conway Twitty Lyrics

She packed her few belongings left a note and now she's gone
And I can't stand to think of her out there so all alone
As soon as she's gone far enough to know she's out of sight
She'll pull off the highway and she'll cry.
And she needs someone to hold her when she cries
When her heart breaks the tears won't stop, no matter how she tries
And she needs someone to hold her when she cries.
I don't blame her for leavin' Lord, she didn't want to go
But she thinks I don't love her or need her anymore
I've driven her into a world as dark and cold as ice
With no one there to hold her when she cries.
And she needs someone to hold her when she cries
Someone who really understands the way she feels inside
And if she ever loves again I hope that she will find
Someone who'll always hold her when she cries
The lyrics to Conway Twitty's "She Needs Someone to Hold Her" revolve around the theme of separation and the pain that comes along with it. The song is about a woman who leaves her partner because she feels unloved and unwanted. She takes her belongings and leaves a note behind, leaving her partner alone and worried about her. The singer of the song empathizes with her and hopes she finds someone who understands her pain and will be there for her when she needs them the most.
The chorus of the song is where the main idea is repeated: "she needs someone to hold her when she cries". The singer understands that the woman in the song needs emotional support and comfort during a difficult time. The lyrics suggest that when the woman cries, it is not just about the physical act of tears streaming down her face, but rather the emotional weight she carries within her that she needs to release. She needs someone who will be there to provide her emotional sanctuary in her moment of sorrow.
The lyrics go on to suggest that the singer was responsible for driving her partner away by not showing her enough love and affection. He understands that he has put her in a "world as dark and cold as ice" and that she has nobody to hold her when she cries. He hopes that she finds someone who can love her and hold her during her moments of weakness.
