Where
Cop Shoot Cop Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Nobody can find you when you're nowhere
Living on the other side of hope
Nobody can hurt you when you don't care
Singing like you're swinging on a rope
Don't worry if you never have been happy
Disappointment is your only friend
It's not like there's nothing to believe in
Every movie's got to have an end
What are you waiting for?
Let's get out of here
When you've got nothing
You've got nothing left to fear
(Yeah, hey) Going nowhere...
How long can you just go on pretending
To be yourself when you know that you're not ?
Every movie's got have an ending
Even when there's not much of a plot
If your lover used to beat you with his anger (failure)
If your mother used to tie you to a rock

Observe your former life preserved in amber
Like someone pulled the power on the clock

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Cop Shoot Cop's song Where suggest a person who feels lost and hopeless. The first verse highlights the feeling of being invisible and disconnected from the world around them. The second verse talks about the burden of expectations and how difficult it is to keep up the facade of being happy when one's heart is filled with disappointment. The chorus can be seen as an escape plan, encouraging the person to leave the place that is causing them misery and to embrace the unknown.

The last verse is a reflection on a painful past. The allusion to an abusive lover/mother and being tied to a rock symbolically communicates the crushing weight of past trauma. The final line, "Like someone pulled the power on the clock", reinforces the feeling of being stuck and powerless to change the past.

Overall, the song Where is a poignant representation of the struggle to find oneself in a world that can be cruel and unforgiving. It speaks to the reality of living with trauma, depression and the consequences of unfulfilled hopes and dreams. However, the song's somber tone is balanced by the spirit of rebellion and the idea that escape is still possible.

@@SethT-lk7xk Yeah, getting the information on video fresh from the source, moments after the incident occurred, is definitely less reliable than asking them about it 2 hours later.

It's almost as though the "integrity of the statements" is just a clever ruse.

They don't, for instance, tell those civilian shooters you mentioned... to stop talking. They get as much information as they can at the scene, and follow up questions/interrogations later. Where they may indeed have isolated the shooter.

But they definitely don't tell the civilian shooter to stop talking, when they're offering up information.

Wonder why?

4 years in the military, 16 years as first responder. Never seen someone who is supposedly trained to remain calm go off the deep end like that. He just shot at anything that moved. WTF, multiple friendly fire injuries.

@JoeyJoJoJr0

That the thing - they're not trained. They lowered standards and offer huge signing bonuses to fill billets, because no honest person want's to be a cop anymore. They're doing the same for the military. We (civilians) are the only line of defense now; these are hired goons that only protect the Politicians and Elites.

@JAYJAYJAY53

My guess would be the lack of proper training and that training probably taught them or gave the idea that they would not pay for any bad shootings

Every other first-world country trains their police officers for a minimum of 2 years. We train ours for 6 months and throw them out on the street. This has led to billions of our tax dollars being paid to settle civil judgments for police brutality/civil rights offenses . There is a serious lack of accountability built into our system.

Yet we continue to give them more money for armored vehicles and body armor. Unfortunately, this hasn't led to our communities being any safer. And in some cases, less safe. For example, look at what happened in Uvalde. They had millions of dollars pumped into their budget so they could buy military gear and hold active shooter drills. A girl scout troop could have done a better job.
