Testing the Strong Ones
by Copeland

There's an angel by your hospital bed
Desperate to hear his name on your breath
As he looks down you're not making a sound
Open your eyes look at me

I'll bring to you whatever you need
And I'll tell you I'm sorry
That I can't take this pain away from you
And I'd put it on my own body if I knew how to
Can't you see

I've gotta bust you outta here somehow
I've never seen your heart this tired
I've never seen your spirit held down
I know that you say

This is what you get
For being a bad child
But I know this will be your reward
In just a little while
In just a little while

Its testing the strong ones
Scarring the beautiful ones
It's holding the loved ones
One last time

It's testing the strong ones
(testing the strong ones)
It's scarring the beautiful ones
(staring the beautiful ones)

It's holding the loved ones
One last time
Its testing the strong ones
(testing the strong ones)

It's scarring the beautiful ones
(starring the beautiful ones)
It's holding the loved ones
One last time

Testing the strong ones
(testing the strong ones)
Scarring the beautiful ones
(scarring the beautiful ones)

It's holding the loved ones
One last time

When my mom was dying this song and this album gave me such comfort.

@katrinalol How does the existence of pain disprove God?
There are plenty of people who live through traumatic events and still believe in God.

katrinalol

@Brokenhill There is no god. Those who truly know pain, know this.

katrinalol

me too, and in reply to the religious comments below: you can listen to music and take a different meaning from it, just like art. we don't have to be religious to find comfort. thats how it works for me, anyway.

@mxsxkxcrc There is plenty of evidence for God. And He is good. He wants us to live in peace with Him in heaven. There are a few answers for why there is suffering on Earth. One is because us as humans make terrible decisions and hurt others. Another reason is because the world is in a corrupt state from sin and so God allows natural disasters and what-not (I suppose as some form of temporal punishment), but it's really for our greater good...
Whether death is natural, from a disaster, or a rare disease, it is to remind us that we all are destined for something different and BETTER than this Earth. It's to help us rely on God because He is the only one that can actually give us safety and comfort only. Anything we trust in on earth will eventually fail.

there is no god that punished your mother for being a bad child, and there is no reward for suffering through "his" bullshit

this song is about that's wrong with born-again Christianity

It’s 2020 and I come back to this album every single year.
