The brain is the core function of the mind and body. The 2nd twin was not a parasite. But a fully aware living and breathing human being, who was trapped inside a mutated body. I would cry all day if I was trapped inside my own mind with no way of ever being able to communicate of function. I saw this when it first aired. I remember thinking how uncomfortable the mother looked. It was almost like she felt that her baby was being put on display and she didn’t like it. Maybe that was me projecting my emotions onto the mother.

Agreed, but you also have to think about culture shock, being on television (a very popular one, mind you) and only being able to communicate to the host and guests through an interpreter----after going through allllll of that with her infants, the poor woman probably has PTSD from the it. Many mothers who have infants in the NICU have PTSD and this is such a rare condition to begin with, she probably didn't have many people to talk to who went through the same thing, especially in her own language

A lot of people say really insensitive things to parents who are grieving a human child. When I lost my baby girl I heard a lot of "don't worry, you'll have another," but I was like what the hell?! Because the "baby" has a face you are considering it a separate person. "It" is an appropriate description of the attached head. Was the twin male or female? Where was the heart or any other organ beyond the brain? You can't get emotionally attached to a head that is killing it's host.

Oprah totally showed her true colors in this when she called the smaller baby a "parasitic head". They were conjoined twins. The baby who was fully formed wasn't born with two heads. She was born connected to her sister, whose body didn't form properly. That baby had a soul. Oprah clearly wanted ratings. How she ever stayed on the air after this baffles me.

I hate how Islaam is referred to by insensitive outsiders as "it", "the skull" and "parasite". She was alive, she had her own brain, she had feelings and emotions. She was not to blame for the circumstances of her birth. While I don't blame anyone for wanting to try to save little Manar, at least the memory of Islaam could be respected. She lost her life so her sister could live. What many may not know is that the family treated her as a separate and true person and gave her a complete funeral and burial. I doubt that any of them would be happy with the way she is discussed by outsiders. That both precious little girls died breaks my heart. RIP little ones.

If you insist that both of them can live with such conditions, you will only destroy their lives under the guise of humanity. Sometimes human morals are not good enough to decide what is good and what is worse. Surgery is the wisest choice so that beautiful Islam does not feel pain anymore. God works in ways that you cannot understand with human reason and morals. This is how it should be. Their short life is God's beautiful plan. The two angels are happy now, they've lived forever.

It's not fair. But Parasites are alive. And they suck the life out of their host. This baby was a baby but also unfortunately a parasite. It's sad but the baby parasite had to die for the other to live, otherwise both would die. And this is truly sad
