In the '70s Cornell left Studio One and started an immensely profitable alliance with Bunny Lee. Hit after hit soon followed, and such was the dominance of the pair that Cornell was sooned nicknamed the Gorgon.
Towards the end of the '80s and in the '90s Cornell was less prolific, but still carried on producing singles, such as "Hell In A Yard" for King Tubby's Firehouse label (with the Jays). Towards the end of the 80s he took a few years off to concentrate on his family's farm, though he recorded sporadically.
Today, after 50 years in music, he still finds time to get into the studio and play the occasional gig. Recent tunes include the haunting "King In My Empire" with german dubmeisters Rhythm & Sound and a couple of tracks with Dub Syndicate.

Just Can't Find Love

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
If you can't find love (by yourself)
If you can't find love (by yourself)
How you going to find yourself?
If you can't find love (by yourself)
If you can't find love (by yourself)
If you can't find love (by yourself)
A man owns a big house
A man got plenty money
A man got red wine to drink
In the land of milk and honey
A man's got a job
He's got some status and self-respect
But still he's never satisfied
So, what did he expect?
If you can't find love (by yourself)
If you can't find love (by yourself)
If you can't find love (by yourself)
Then how you going to find yourself?
Don't have no honey, don't have no wife
Loneliness a kill yuh when yuh go to sleep at night
Yuh have everything in life
But it nuh feel right if a woman is not by your side
Ain't gotta fuss, ain't gotta fight
Just find a girl that yuh know is definitely yuh type
Yuh have everything in life
But it nuh feel right if that woman is not by your side
A man got no worries
A man got no strife
A man got a million distractions
To keep him up at night
There's a hole in his pocket
There's no holes in his shoes
But there's a hole in his life
You wonder, what's a man to do?
If you can't find love (by yourself)
If you can't find love (by yourself)
If you can't find love (by yourself)
Then how you going to find yourself?
He talks to you of freedom
He talks to you of choice
As something he can't jeopardize
You tell him there's no compromise
There's ghosts that must be exorcised
One day he'll have to recognize
If you can't find love (by yourself)
If you can't find love (by yourself)
If you can't find love (by yourself)
Then how you going to find yourself?
If you can't find love (by yourself)
If you can't find love (by yourself)
If you can't find love (by yourself)
Then how you going to find yourself?
Love is the only thing can get you outta trouble
You living life, but you living in a rubble
Love is the only thing can get you outta trouble
Free your mind, dig yourself outta the rubble
Love is the only thing can get you outta trouble
You living life, but you living in a rubble
Love is the only thing can get you outta trouble
Free your mind, dig yourself outta the rubble
The song "Just Can't Find Love" by Cornell Campbell delves into the importance of love in one's life. The repetition of the phrase "If you can't find love (by yourself)" emphasizes the idea that love cannot be found through external factors, such as material possessions or social status; it must come from within. The lyrics also suggest that without love, one cannot truly find themselves or be satisfied with their life. This is demonstrated through the example of a man who has everything he could ever want, but still feels a void because he lacks love.
The verses also touch on the loneliness and unhappiness that can come with not having love in one's life. The lines "Loneliness a kill yuh when yuh go to sleep at night" and "But it nuh feel right if a woman is not by your side" convey the idea that companionship and love are essential for a fulfilling life.
The chorus then brings the message home that love is the key to overcoming difficulties in life and finding true happiness. The repetition of "Love is the only thing can get you outta trouble" serves as a reminder that no matter how much money or success one may have, it is ultimately love that brings true contentment and fulfillment.
Overall, "Just Can't Find Love" is a poignant reminder that love should be the priority in one's life, and that without it, one may never truly find themselves or be truly happy.
