- a talented singer and songwriter from Mozart’s town of origin Salzburg
At the tender age of six Coshiva starts taking piano lessons and later goes to music school all the while teaching herself to play the guitar. At the age of 17 Coshiva performs for the very first time in a band and starts composing her own songs. The year she turned 20 she starts performing as a solo artist in various clubs in her native area. After graduating from the School of Tourism, Coshiva travelled around in the US and Canada in search of new influences and ideas for her music. A very fortunate encounter with Che Rubin (Special-FX producer for George Lucas and Walt Disney) follows and they decide to work together on her first pop-album all the while still full time studying. In December 2002 Coshiva’s stars proved to be on her side and she finally managed to get signed on with Homebase Records, label of star composer Christian Kolonovits, with a record deal in her pocket the sky became the limit. In June 2003 her debut album “Leaving Today” first saw the light and a few months later her full album “ Thousand Miles Away” was in the shops all over Austria and Germany. Young and energetic talent Coshiva is praised all over the country and leading radio station O3 quoted her “Best CD recommendation of the week!” and “Austria’s newcomer with great hit potential!” Her debut on national television came with the release of her Christmas single “ It’s Christmas Time” which she performed live on Christmas Day 2003 on ORF, Austria’s national and biggest television station. After post-graduate "Multi Media Art" in Salzburg she moved to Vienna and composed some songs and the soundtrack for the motion picture "you bet your life" by Antonin Svoboda
Five years have passed since the release of her rocky debut album "Thousand miles away". In these years Coshiva was able to discover her own voice, becoming a sensitive Singer/Songwriter. Coshiva is not only a singer/songwriter, she produces her new album "Butterfly" by her own and do all the labelwork and mangement by herself. Characterized through all the live-experiences (with band or solo), she has been able to recreate this unplugged feeling and bring it into the studio. This is why you find solo songs as well as songs with her band. The emphasis of the sparkling songs are centered on the rich and clear voice of Coshiva. No longer overpowered by the music itself, the voice has been given the room to evolve. Accompanied by her piano, an acoustic guitar, double bass and a small jazz drumset Coshiva serves pearls of musical delectabilities. [Coshiva: "I no longer have idols but I have been influenced in a variety of ways by many different artists. Because of Singer/Songwriters such as Norah Jones, Jack Johnson or Feist this type of acoustic music is now more acceptable to larger audiences..."] In April 2008 her album "Butterfly" is in the shops all over Austria (Thx Oest. Musikfonds). The Hitsingle "Butterfly" is crusing up the Austrian Charts and her first "Butterfly-tour" starts (Thx Oest.Toursupport) ...
Whether composing, singing, producing, performing or promoting...whatever she does, she does with heart and soul every step of the way…
Butterfly
Coshiva Lyrics

I've got to stop my asking
And see the world from above
Oh - how small his hands can be
My mum told me be a strong girl
Be much stronger than me
Use your heart and don't question
Why it's always me
And pray to God listen
What you do to others
The others do to you
My brother was too young
My mum had to hold her tounge .
And I was the eldest
I had to be strong
Sometimes I wanted to
Fly like a butterfly - yes I wanted to
Fly like a butterfly - yes I wanted to
Fly like a butterfly
Far from angry hands
angry hands
angry hands
to find some peace
You're my little brother
I'm your sister
We complement one another
I'm your twister
When I was a young girl
Just didn't understand
What was this anger
From such a loving man
See here little brother
Look to your sister
Keepin' hold our faith
Through these twisters
When I was a young girl
Just didn't understand
What was this anger
From such a loving man
Yes I wanted to - fly like a butterfly
Sometimes my Dad stings like a bee
I've got to stop my asking
And see the world from above
The song “Butterfly” by Coshiva talks about the struggles a young girl went through while growing up with an abusive father. The first verse highlights the young girl's desire to see the world from a different perspective, to stop asking for explanations from her father and instead observe from above. She also reflects on the advice of the women in her life, her mother and grandmother, who taught her to be strong and prayerful. Despite being the eldest child, she couldn't protect the younger brother from their father's anger, and so she wanted to escape and fly like a butterfly, far from the angry hands.
The chorus reflects her desire to be free from her father's abuse, to fly like a butterfly, and find peace. She also recognizes the special bond she has with her younger brother, as they complement each other, and she promises to protect him from their father's anger. The second verse talks about their relationship, and how she struggled to understand why a loving father becomes so angry. She promises to be there for him and keep their faith strong, no matter the challenges. The song ends with a repetition of the first verse, emphasizing the need to see things from a different perspective to overcome the struggles.
