David, much respect for your contribution to video games in general. In the same breathe as this video, "Who gives a shit", let people live in they're own bubbles. You cant force them to stop objectifying/masturbating..to....fake....women? Gaming communities just like every other passion/hobbies has its bad apples. Not saying they shouldn't strive for better as gamers/people. Just, I guarantee what you're asking of fellow gamers-for many, that's a hard ask. Especially with the demographic of gamers, now. I personally don't care what people are fantasizing about, or when they put those fantasies to good use.
You mentioned that she's fake, porn last I checked is NOT a reality show. In fact porn is an extreme form of fantasies. Theres no reason to go into detail of the similarity between 2 people indulging versus perfect camera angles/make up/lighting/directing. Most of the people in the comment section are old enough to understand that.

So, people don't realize this, Modern day internet allows you to live in your own bubble. Companies spend stupid amounts of money to find out what you like to serve you better. You willing tell these folks exactly what you're interested in finding. For free too. Ad research. So they can bombard you with the latest waste of money/accurate search results. If your looking for bad shit you'll find it. Google finds whatever is being searched for.

For example, "God of War games blow ass". As opposed to "God of War games effing Rule"! Differing opinions, yet if we search either of those, we'll find it.
Especially if it grinds your gears.

It's like, walking down the street-you see a few folks in a circle talking and by chance you hear someone refer to a woman as a "big stupid bitch". You get caught up in the moment your so upset-you abandon all reason and swiftly walk up and tell him he needs to shut up.

So, yea. Who the fuck cares? Not this guy.

I think it does matter, they made a conscious decision to make something visually less appealing. Like if Lamborghini released a new car and it looked goofy, people would be like "wtf who wants that?"

Yes, ugly people exist, but I'm sure most ugly people would choose a character/ make an attractive looking character if they had the choice to do so in a videogame, no?

Romanian Vee made a very good point on this topic on his Lack of Entertainment channel.

Like the lady who does Aloy's mocap is a complete babe, but the developers consciously made the decision to make Aloy more masculine, and they even admitted and addressed that point in an interview.

It's just alittle bizzare I guess.

Am2_lo

ok I understand what you are saying... but first I don't think Aloy looks fat in this gameplay, her face is a bit different from the previous game but like I said maybe is just the better graphics/motion capture that so ever - and by the way only in the initial cut scene we can spot something, don't you think? in the gameplay she is still fast, agile and flexible like the original.

I really believe that Guerrilla haven't thought of anything you're saying about promoting or focusing on "woke" subjects to get awards... yes, they do follow the trend of a ecological theme and there is a subliminal message on ecology and climate change but it doesn't make the game better or worst I think.

I also get that there is a trend on "woke" subjects in cinema, tv, music or even videogames, but its just a trend, the modern history of the western world has always been like this... I have no problem with that!! you know, in the 80's every pop song had the bridge part with a saxophone solo, go figure lol.

Sometimes I get confused by the gaming community, people stress out because of a look of a caracter, and go to the point of compulsive hate, but then, never asks why a game always have to reward you for your headshots and for being ultra violent. Gamers should focus on game inovation, gameplay, UI or artistic style instead.

On TLOU2...man, I loved TLOU2 so much, everything of it: the graphics, the story, even the smoothness of gameplay/cut scenes, so cool... if video games should belong to the art Relm like paintings, music or cinema is, that's because of games like TLOU2. peace goes out.

Ok but character consistency matters. We are tired of companies changing exsisting characters just to pander to SJWs.
Just creating new characters is ALWAYS the better option BUT they know for a fact that if the characters were fat or gay or whatever, that they would not be popular.
They instead try to chance exsisting characters that ready have a large fandom, to try to force ideals on to us.
The ideal that being fat is normal or even attractive.
Doing something like that, even subtlety feels like pure manipulation.

And foreal dude... You know Alloy would not be a popular character if she was unattractive to most people in the first game.
Humans are visual creatures and looks matter whether you like it or not.

sungjin008

Here's Onex7805's most sympathetic Reddit comment. This is why I hate Modern Gamer, Anti-SJW.

I feel the launch of this game finally exposed the "Trust 'honest' YouTubers over those 'professional' journalists!" myth. Up to very recently, the majority of those that had been criticizing CDPR's practices and studio problems were outlets and actual journalists while YouTubers were busy to downplay them to pander to the gaming community and fans were eating that up, making up some conspiracy theories about "BRAVE CDPR IS FIGHTING THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA", nonsense pushed by the anti-SJW crowd likes of Upper Echelon Gamers (Who now posted "I'm done defending Cyberpunk" lmao)

People like Angry Joe have been hyping the shit out of this game as if it is going to be the second coming of Christ without an ounce of skepticism, got invited to the CDPR headquarters, defended their deeds as if he is their PR guy, has been downplaying all the news regarding crunches and shit management by saying

"The employees take their jobs very seriously. It's very tough over there okay. It's not a walk in the park, but that's what comes with being a prestigious company. It's tough, but they're doing things right."

Any other company, he would be virtue signaling about how employees are abused as he did with Bioware and Naughty Dog because they made the games the community didn't like. When Cyberpunk got released, he had streams talking about "Come on guys, this is their first massive openworld game, they will fix the bugs" and made a news video on game controversies and tried his hardest to shift the blame from CDPR to Microsoft by claiming the Halo Infinite delay forced CDPR to release this game.

This is the same guy who fills his reviews with the 10 minutes skits of Angry Joe fighting the "corporate commander" strawman, branded himself as the "champion of consumers" spiel. This is the guy who posted an Angry Rant on The Last of Us Part II just based on the plot leaks of the game that wasn't out. (And a significant portion of the leaks turned out to be inaccurate) He only now published an Angry Rant on Cyberpunk almost a week later because everybody is now shitting on it and jumped in on the bandwagon since that is where his bread and butter are and his instincts to catch up with trends are better than the majority of reactionary gaming YouTubers. If there were no backlash, I can assure you he'll still be singing praises nonstop.

Skill Up published a review that praises how the city feels real and immersive. CohhCarnage was shitting all over Watch Dogs Legion about every tiny detail of the engine, and now with Cyberpunk, it's all about the story. YongYea finishes the game and reviews it before release, "The game has some bugs, but it is exactly what I wanted it to be" then it ends with praises, despite the game missing so many of its promised features Yong wanted.

With this said, a lot of these Youtubers are now lambasting the game, but again, it is because that is where their bread and butter are. Any gaming Youtubsr who gushed about the game prior to or right afterthe release then turned against it now is just a crowd follower who looks at subs like these and follows what they think the popular opinion is.

Outlets like IGN and Gamespot get shit all the time for being biased (for good reasons), but so many Youtubers that regurgitate what the community says to drum up controversy or hype get a free pass when they are not much different from phony sensationalist yellow journalists they claim to fight against. Contrary to the popular belief, professional media personalities don't get paid by clicks, while YouTubers do and have an actual incentive to follow the bias of their viewers. Their audience doesn't hold the influencers accountable for anything. They are basically just watching long advertisement videos with ads on top of them. The majority of these big-name YouTubers are grifters who built careers around telling their audience what they what to hear rather than what they need to hear, despite they have been marketing themselves as 'honest' and 'real'. Chris Davis pointed this out in his critique video, and I am so glad he did. Studios are not rewarded for investing in the product itself and only for the marketing and public relations.

It is frustrating how people complain that major review sites are way too biased and lack integrity but they always seem to ignore Youtubers who are even far worse. They still can't get their heads out of the naive impressions of old Youtube days when the gaming Youtubers were pure and innocent, which was a decade ago.

Imagine Cyberpunk 2077 was an EA, Bethesda, or Ubisoft product. If any other studio promised a world as deep as Red Dead Redemption 2, with better cops than GTA V, presented their game as if it is a life sim, if any other studio promoted a game as an RPG and ended up removing that description from their site? It will not be "Oh but it will get patched so still buy it" at the release. Angry Joe would be calling the game an Epic Fail and rallying his fans to demand a fix or refund, Skill Up would issue a PSA not to buy this game, and YongYea would be talking about disgusting business practices and false advertising while saying that despite the game being good in some areas that shouldn’t excuse all the ways they dropped the ball. But hey, it’s CDPR. They’re gamers just like us and wholesome Keanu 100. They had to keep the narrative that CDPR was supposed to be the end of year savior because gamers have this creepy parasocial relationship with them since The Witcher 2. These Youtubers had to feed into what their audience wants. People need their community consensus validated and if a major reviewer disagrees with their consensus suddenly they’re biased and don’t deserve the job they have.

The problem is these guys are literally influencers. Their followers are literally influenced by their opinions of the game and parroting whatever things they said, despite don't play the game first-hand and not considering they're using the best machines to run the game. Either, at best, they have invested so much and waited so much for the game so they subconsciously refuse to admit it, or at worst, they are leeches who are in it for the paycheck. They need to cater to the people (community) who make clicks.

My answer: Watch Videogame Discourse: More Broken Than Cyberpunk (The Jimquisition), I HATE r/gaming, REVIEW SCORES. It's good video.

G Woody

🤣
Careful, you might get deplatformed for making too much sense.
Remember when we understood games are fiction? For fun? GAMES?
A lot of reviewers and mouth-pieces have such high expectations and behave as though the characters are real, the story is true, and any suspension of reality is black mark on the game.
Ohhhh the Villian wasn't believable, 4 out of 10.
Never watched a Bond movie?
Ohhhh the bolt on the gun was on the wrong side and theres actually 13, not 15 rounds in a real blah blah blah...
Its a game.
Ohhhh there's holes in the plot, how did the villian travel 300 miles in 5 seconds.
ITS A GAME.
Ohhhhh why would this landscape even exist?
To facilitate the mass-murder and random mayhem THE GAME is comprised of.

Lol. So many good games get a bad review because the gamers want frucking Shakespeare.

syminite1

This isn't about games, it's about people being preached to through sjw tactics in our movies, games, tv shows, and music.

She may just have put on a little weight but you have to wonder with all the "fat acceptance" and lizzo stuff going on, Adele getting attacked for "Losing" weight, guys getting wrongfully shamed on dating sites for not liking fat girls, ect...

People are sick of it, so anything remotely resembling "agenda" is immediately pounced upon, and yes this looks like an agenda of "fat acceptance" to me.

Laura croft was never fat, niether was Jill valentine, Lady from dino crisis, Chun li, Sonya blade, Beyonetta, Samus, Zelda, Fear effect chicks, Tekken chicks, DoA chicks, Final fantasy, Trish from dmc ect... None were fat and it was cool.

I find it funny now that "Bigoted fake fat acceptance" is on the rise now fat girls are on the rise in Movies, Tv, and games? 🤔🤔

Just found this video by chance but goddamn the amount of clutter on the screen is insane, feels like watching live TV

@InnerRise now that you've mentioned it, I can see it.

InnerRise

@IL0V3MU5IC I like the way Alloy looks. I dont know who I was 8 months ago.
I've always thought Alloy looked a bit like Rachael Ray.

IL0V3MU5IC

@InnerRise I was replying yo your original comment. Dont care to read the rest of the comments section as I was giving my opinion. If you care about the story and the game then the way the character looks shouldn't matter unless they change the way the character so drastically that its not the same character which is not the case here.
Just so that you don't feel like ur ignored ur comment

IL0V3MU5IC

@InnerRise Okay. I can see that you're upset. So, I'll end this conversation here. Cheers dude.

InnerRise

@IL0V3MU5IC so you literally posted without reading this comment thread.

Try again. People care.

I agree it's sad people care way too much about this and it's not our game we didn't make it so it's design doesn't matter unless we made it ourselves, but I also feel you might be projecting some discontent from other hatreds to these "gamers", I do it too but it's with SHADMAN, I HATE SHADMAN -JACK

@Will D. Swish That's a good point, the screenshots aren't the most flattering, but still, I feel that, for whatever reason, there was is a conscious decision to make ugly characters it seems?

Like there's the Diablo 2 remake where they very obviously made the female 'Barbarian' character less attractive, when originally she was better looking.

I'm not whining because I can't fap anymore, I'm bringing it up because it's a mysterious trend that we're seeing more and more of. . .
