Cool Girl
Courtney Cole Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You cut it, curl it, die it blonde
You line your lips and paint it on
And order what he's drinking
Try and figure out what he's thinking
You work the room, you hold his hand
Laugh along with all his friends
The whole while you're wishin'
You could just get his attention

You ain't gotta be the cool girl
If he don't want you he's a fool girl
You just gotta be you girl
Don't change one single thing
When you finally find the right guy
The can't believe you're really mine guy
He'll be looking right at you girl
Like you hung the moon girl
Yeah you'll know it's true girl
When you ain't gotta be the cool girl

You get nervous, you get shy
In a crowd, in the lights
So what you doin' dancin'?
Why you trying to impress him
Your lose yourself in that dress
You're feeling "no" but you're sayin' "yes"
Shouldn't have to try so hard
To win somebody's heart

You ain't gotta be the cool girl
If he don't want you he's a fool girl
You just gotta be you girl
Don't change one single thing
When you finally find the right guy
The can't believe you're really mine guy
He'll be looking right at you girl
Like you hung the moon girl
Yeah you'll know it's true girl
When you ain't gotta be the cool girl

Love ain't gotta be
Some popularity contest

You ain't gotta be the cool girl
If he don't want you he's a fool girl
You just gotta be you girl
Don't change one single thing
When you finally find the right guy
The can't believe you're really mine guy
He'll be looking right at you girl
Like you hung the moon girl

Yeah you'll know it's true girl
When you ain't gotta be the cool girl

Overall Meaning

I love this song... You can really feel the emotion of being the person in the song having everything you thought was good in a relationship be ripped from you. A very beautifully sad song.
