Shelter
Covenant Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If this was a cavern of concrete
In a forest with trees like towers
I would have a place to seek retreat
From their poisoned plastic flowers
If this was a shelter I would endure
In a world with faceless strangers
I would have a place to feel secure
From the ever present dangers

Overall Meaning

This verse from Covenant's song Shelter speaks to the human need for refuge and sanctuary in the face of an increasingly artificial and dangerous world. The lyrics describe a hypothetical situation in which a concrete cavern in a forest of towering trees would provide the singer with the respite they seek from a world polluted by "poisoned plastic flowers" and populated by "faceless strangers." The metaphorical language evokes a sense of longing for a natural world free from the artificial constructs that have come to dominate modern life.

The song as a whole seems to express a desire for a deeper connection to the natural world and a rejection of the sterile, manufactured reality that many people have come to accept as normal. The repeated refrain of "I need shelter from the storm" suggests that the singer is experiencing some kind of turmoil or crisis, and is seeking a safe haven in which to weather the storm. Ultimately, the message of the song seems to be one of hope – that in spite of the many challenges we face in the contemporary world, there is still the possibility of finding moments of peace and tranquility amid the chaos.

What an Intro...

He sounds a bit like Chris Pohl (Blutengel) here. They should've gotten him as guest singer for this song. Not a big fan of BE but he would fit perfectly here.

Funker cha's

I feel like this came out at a time when Chris did not sound like what you are picturing.
