It has been suggested that Page collaborated with Coverdale in order to irk Page's former Led Zeppelin band-member Robert Plant, who up to that point had been reluctant to re-unite with Page.[1] In interviews at the time, Plant expressed some derision at the guitarist's collaboration with Coverdale.[2] Rumours emerged that Coverdale and Page would be joined by John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham in a reformed Led Zeppelin, but this did not pan out.[citation needed]
This studio album marked a return to commercial success for Page since his days with Led Zeppelin. However, after a series of concerts in Japan, sluggish tickets sales for a subsequent world tour resulted in the partnership being dissolved. Page subsequently teamed up with Plant for an "UnLedded" MTV project and Coverdale re-appeared from time to time with different Whitesnake line-ups.

Coverdale has hands down one of the most powerful voices in rock history.

That's why he's been able to perform with the likes of Blackmore, Page, and form his own band - Whitesnake. But it takes more than just having a great voice. David is also a good song writer, has stage presence, is a rock star. And he must have good leadership qualities to keep a band like Whitesnake together for so long. A great voice is nothing without a band to support them. The lead singer is 1/4 or 1/5 of the entire unit. They are rarely the whole band. Even Elvis needed musicians to back him. But I agree with you. notice I gave you a thumbs up. I'm contributingv to your discussion. David Coverdale has one heck of a voice. I've seen him live a few times. He's got "tonsils" as we musicians say. Reminds me of Ronnie Dio.

Coverdale sounds amazing and I think Jimmy Page is the second best guitarist of all time. (Hendrix was the best).
SRV has a legit claim to the 2nd best, but when you look at who had the most musical influence, IMHO Page wins.
