Divorce
Craig´s brother Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She's breaking up, she's falling down
She's holding her fists up now
Her eyes meet my face but we don't look the Same
She walks away, on bloody knees
Her swollen face hides her tears
My mind strains for words but my tongue won't obey

You're just a shadow now of the girl I used to know
Your broken song is maimed and slow
You strain your face to bear that smile
Your teeth clenched tightly all the while
And though you search so thoroughly
For some place to put the blame
It only rests on angry shoulders
And you don't look the same
Your pretty face now contorted
Haggard with shame
I try to recognize your anger
I try to recognize your hatred
I try to find some purpose for your pride

So cease your screaming now because your
Voice is worn and hoarse
Your song insinuates divorce
Your poison love I won't pursue
Your not the lover I once knew
And though you speak so firmly of maxims so bold
Your lips mouth words of love
But still your voice is callused and cold
I try to understand what made this mess unfold
I'm sure you couldn't be blamed
Your features haven't changed
And yet I can't Imagine why you don't look the same

and your song of broken trust is grating on my ears
I'm tired of standing passive while you're preying on my fears
I'm tired of trying to fight, I'm tired of taking sides
You say that you're not angry but I see it in your eyes
I'm tired of hearing rumors, I'm tired of hiding shame
I'm tired of pointing fingers and never taking blame

I'm tired of trying to talk I've nothing left to say
I'm tired of going on so I'm going away

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Craig's Brother's "Divorce" speak about the breakdown of a relationship and the emotional toll it takes on both parties involved. The song starts with imagery of a woman who is breaking down, both physically and emotionally. She is angry and in pain, and the singer is struggling to understand what caused her to change so drastically. Even though he tries to search for a reason, the blame seems to be resting on "angry shoulders" that he can't quite identify.

As the song progresses, the singer describes how this woman is no longer the person he used to know. She is still trying to put on a smile, but it's clear that she is struggling. Her words of love sound hollow, and there is an undercurrent of anger and hurt in her voice. The singer is tired of trying to make things work and of the constant fighting. He feels that there is no longer any love left in their relationship and that a divorce is the only option.

Overall, "Divorce" is a powerful song that explores the complex emotions that come with the breakdown of a relationship. It's clear that both parties are hurting, and the singer is struggling to come to terms with the fact that the person he once loved has changed so much.

The palm-muted guitar fill at the "you're not the lover I once knew" part is pure, musical orgasm.

@darkened93

"I'm tired of trying to talk. Not nothing left to say. I'm tired of going on so I'm going away." Good times

I had this one punk compilation with this song, but it didn't list any song or artist names. Took me years to figure out who it was. Probably 2 years of my life were spent with this song on repeat.

"I'm tired of standing passive while you're preying on my fears".

Man, i lived this when i was married. Me standing up for myself caused more fights and worsened things until we divorced. It hurt at first, but now I'm glad.

@sunvalleygunclub

This is from the album, "Lost At Sea", the personnel was Dan McClintock from Inspection 12, Heath, Scott and Ted. Ryan Key might have helped to write it, but was not credited on the recording (he quit about a year before its release). Dan McClintock, though, is an integral part of the sound of this record. Nothing else that Craig's Brother has released sounds anything like this album.

@rockmanafb

Sun Valley Gun Club homecoming is an amazimg record i didnt think they would recover when their guitar playerd left for too bad eugene but i was surprised when i saw them on tour with the guy from yellow card playimg guitar. he held that crap down for beimg theor only guitar player on tjst tour. but yah lost at sea is amazing if i jad to choose id go with lost at sea it was different than homecoming but man was it good.
