evolution
Crash Palace Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You say that you want it
But you hold it back
And I know you afford it
But you wouldn't know
And I know, you say so
Are you vain enough?
Save it, say hello
You can't stop this evolution
Blaming yourself for all my problems
Living life on a loaded gun, living on

I walk on a razor
I walk out alone
I've lost my saviour
I've lost my soul
And I know, you say so

Are you vain enough?
Save it, say hello

You can't stop this evolution

Blaming yourself for all my problems
Living life on a loaded gun, living on

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of "Evolution" by Crash Palace speak to a sense of hesitation or fear of taking risks. The singer seems to be addressing someone who wants something, but won't allow themselves to have it. There's a sense of resentment or frustration in the tone, as if the singer is tired of waiting for the other person to make a move. The line "Are you vain enough? Save it, say hello" feels like a challenge - the question of whether or not the other person is confident or self-absorbed enough to make a move, and the suggestion to just speak up and take action instead of holding back.

The chorus - "You can't stop this evolution, blaming yourself for all my problems, living life on a loaded gun, living on" - feels like a rallying cry. The singer seems to be saying that change is inevitable, and that the other person can't hold them back from growing and changing. The idea of "living life on a loaded gun" suggests a sense of danger or risk, but also feels like an acknowledgment that living life to the fullest requires taking chances.

Overall, "Evolution" feels like a song about pushing past fear and hesitation, and embracing change and growth. The lyrics are somewhat cryptic, but there's a feeling of intensity and urgency that runs throughout the song.

As a member of this band and co-writer of Evolution, I can't help but laugh at the incredible amount of inaccuracies in this post. Who in the hell is Magnus-Berg? Never met him. LOL. Formed in 2015? The band had long disbanded. Entertaining post. :)

Been wanting to see this video again for years! An album that still gets regular spins at home.
Still remember seeing you guys tear it up at M-One and I believe this music video was included with the “souvenir lanyard and VCD”.

About 20 years ago now I saw you guys in a club either on Swanston St or just off it, with a friend. Not many there. After the gig we talked to the lead singer for about 15 minutes as the band were packing up their own gear. Marcus was his name I think? He was really friendly and genuinely touched as to how much we liked the album. He was just a normal guy about our age.
To cut a long story short I have the CD in my car today, it must be over 15 years since I’ve listened.
It still sounds just as great. Would like to know how many copies it actually sold.
