Their follow-up album, Darkhorse (2002) failed to achieve the same level of success, contributing to the band's break-up in 2003. Mazur and Binzer reformed the band in 2007, and released their third album, The Brimstone Sluggers, in 2015. In 2017, Mazur left the band and Binzer changed the name of the band to Crazy Town X.
Bret Mazur and Seth Binzer, who go by the names of Epic and Shifty Shellshock, respectively, started collaborating under the name of "The Brimstone Sluggers" in 1995 in Los Angeles, California, along with Adam Bravin (a.k.a. DJ Adam 12) who preceded DJ AM. However, they did not become serious about releasing any material until much later. By early 1999, Rust Epique, James Bradley Jr (a.k.a. JBJ)., Doug Miller, Adam Goldstein (a.k.a. DJ AM), and Antonio Lorenzo "Trouble" Valli joined the band. Prior to joining the band, Bradley was the drummer for jazz trumpeter Chuck Mangione from 1977 to 1981, and had been a member of the alternative rock band Mary's Danish in the early 1990s. Crazy Town's debut album, The Gift of Game, was released in November 1999, having been recorded earlier that year.
Crazy Town has been noted by journalists and the group itself for its hip hop sound. Their music has also been labeled as rap rock, rap metal, nu metal, and alternative rock. Crazy Town does not consider itself to be a rock band, but rather a hip hop group.

I'm jaded but when you looked at me
I couldn't escape it
I really hate it when I'm out of control
But baby after the show
My mind just wouldn't let go
Tell me was it a hallucination
That made me feel so alone
I can't get you out of my head
Now I'm pouring out my heart for you
[Chorus]
I never meant to hurt you so bad
I'm just trying to get over you
I hope you never meant to hurt me so bad
Don't you feel the same way too
So now I sit and think of what I can say
When you look at me to re-ignite the connection
I'm gonna take you to a place beyond time
Somewhere that we've never been
Someplace that I couldn't find
Tell me if you're feeling my addiction
Without you I just can't disguise
How much I need to see your face one more time
I can't get you out of my head
Now I'm pouring out my heart for you
[Chorus]
In the song "Hurt You So Bad" by Crazy Town, the lead vocalist expresses his feelings of being jaded and out of control. He reveals his emotions for a person he has never met before but can't seem to get out of his head. He wonders if his intense feelings for this person were a hallucination. He expresses his desire to meet this person and take them to a place beyond time, somewhere new where they've never been. He acknowledges the pain he may have caused them and hopes they never meant to hurt him as bad as he hurt them.
The lyrics of this song express a sense of longing and intense emotions. The lead vocalist pours out his heart for someone he has never met before, which is a unique and interesting concept in itself. The lyrics also portray the pain caused by past relationships and the desire to move forward from them. The chorus expresses the desire to heal from the pain and move on, but also acknowledges the possibility that the other person may have been hurt just as badly.
Overall, "Hurt You So Bad" is a song about the complicated and intense emotions that come with relationships, both past and present. The lyrics express a deep sense of longing and hope for resolution and healing.

Now let me state it for the record
Let me say this very clearly
I'm jaded but when you looked at me
I'm cynical, but when you looked at me, it affected me deeply
I couldn't escape it
I couldn't ignore the impact of your gaze
I really hate it when I'm out of control
I dislike it when I lose self-control
But baby after the show
But after the performance
My mind just wouldn't let go
I couldn't stop thinking about you
Tell me was it a hallucination
Did I imagine it?
That made me feel so alone
That caused me to feel so isolated
And even though I have never met you before
Despite having never met you
I can't get you out of my head
I can't stop thinking about you
Now I'm pouring out my heart for you
Now I'm expressing my deep feelings for you
I never meant to hurt you so bad
I didn't intend to cause you so much pain
I'm just trying to get over you
I'm attempting to move on from my feelings for you
I hope you never meant to hurt me so bad
I hope you didn't intend to cause me similar pain
Don't you feel the same way too

So now I sit and think of what I can say
So now I contemplate what I should express
When you look at me to re-ignite the connection
When you try to reignite our relationship with your gaze
I'm gonna take you to a place beyond time
I'm going to bring you to a transcendent place
Somewhere that we've never been
A location that neither of us have experienced
Someplace that I couldn't find
A place that had eluded me in the past
Tell me if you're feeling my addiction
Let me know if you share my intense desire
Without you I just can't disguise
I can't conceal my longing for you
How much I need to see your face one more time
How much I yearn to see you again
Now I'm pouring out my heart for you
Now I'm expressing my deep feelings for you

Engraçado que Butterfly foi a música deles que mais emplacou, mas Hurt You So Bad e Drowning são consideravelmente melhores.
