The song is derived from a 1927 song by Art Sizemore and George A. Little entitled "So Tired". It was then covered by Cream on their first album, Fresh Cream, then later put on their last studio album Goodbye as a live performance.
"I'm So Glad" was also recorded by Deep Purple, in a medley with their original song "Prelude to Happiness", for their 1968 debut album Shades of Deep Purple. Deep Purple supported Cream on their Farewell Tour in October 1968 where Cream's Goodbye version was recorded, and recorded their own live album, entitled Inglewood - Live in California on the same night. The album, remained shelved until 2002, when it finally was released.

I keep this performance close to my heart. The album's been with me for more than 15 years and I still keep coming back to it. Lovely and brilliant playing + the sound's great (for once with Cream ..). Fresh Cream never goes sour, it only matures. Sourcream forever. I love these guys

Watched this clip many many times. Still gives me goosebumps. This version has to be the best version of "I'm so Glad". Back in their heyday, they played as they would have with a lot of bravado / youth and quite fast. Here they hold back a bit, groove and play more concisely. There's more purpose. One of the best vids I've ever seen from the minute they walk on! Absolutely astounding!! I must say I prefer the sound quality of their “Wheels of Fire” live recordings compared with this. The sound here is compressed, which feels like a cloth was thrown over the mics. Why is it, today's engineers/ producers feel the need to use compression? It takes away from the raw sound that is live recording.

Don't you just love the nod Jack gives Eric at the end. Wonderful stuff. It still sends shivers down my back hearing this as I was lucky enough to get seat in the stalls 14 rows from the front right in front of Eric on the first night a magic concert, and getting Brian May's autograph afterwards was an amazing bonus

What a precious piece of rock history. These three guys are all stars in their own right. It is quite clear that they allow each instrument to be heard clearly. Three masters shining bright for us. What makes this Concert so remarkable is the fact that they did not engage large Brass Sections, 3 Keyboarders, 5 Background singers and lots of Guitarists like many other Bands do (for instance "The Who") but just do their unimitable thing with three instruments and two (ok, two and a half) voices. Great Stuff and thumbs ten times up!

Incredibly Brilliant Genius-level guitar-playing and Phrasing on the entire solo from E.C. this is absolute proof that Clap never played like this ever before without Jack and Ginge....The way that the guitar-solo builds and builds and builds to a gut-wrenching-crescendo and the sheer sonic blistering brilliance of it's sheer-magnitude gave Jack's nod of absolute-approval to Clap several times up until the very end..This must be why this track was first in order on the DVD/CD..INCREDIBLE E.C. J.B. and G.B.! It's the solo that matters and Jack & Ginge's playing is also in the highest-order...

I'm 60 now but I remember the first time I heard them live on "Wheels..." Jack Bruce was and is my musical hero for so many reasons. I learned to play Train Time when I was a kid now I play bass. There is so much going on by these three. I'm so glad when I can keep up...sort of!

I think it's cause he's trained as a Jazz drummer. Jazz drummers are used to directing the music. Check out Elvin Jones, Art Blakey or Max Roach.

Too right! I was there on the Thursday night, and it was probably the best set I've ever seen since I started going to gigs in '69. I actually find some of the earlier live jams from the '60's much harder to listen to than any of the stuff from this set. Musically, it all flows seamlessly; if you listen to some of the earlier stuff', you can almost hear the joins. (Didn't say I didn't love it though). It's just a much more grown up version of what was being played over 40 years earlier.

I cant believe it has been five years since my dear friend, Jack Bruce, left us. Now Ginger is gone too, but their music is forever. While Jack was an all-time great bass player, it was his singing that really impressed me. I had the pleasure of working with Jack on Kip Hanrahan's American Clave recordings. Jack was an amazing musician, a better friend, and a charming human being.

This song was playing in 1969 just after I'd written my final exams in my second year at McMaster University. It came from somewhere, a car radio, or out of someone's apartment. How I loved THE CREAM, especially Jack Bruce.

It‘s interesting to watch a recent interview Clapton did about all his Royal Albert Hall experiences, and he talks about how hard they all worked for this reunion in 2005, and how they were all so in sync with each other, really for the first time (and not high out of their minds).
