[Chorus:]
I'm so glad
I'm so glad
I'm glad, I'm glad, I'm glad

Don't know what to do
Don't know what to do
Don't know what to do

Tired of weeping
Tired of moaning
Tired of groaning for you

[Chorus]

Tired of weeping
Tired of moaning
Tired of groaning for you

[Chorus: x8]

Overall Meaning

The song "I'm So Glad" by Cream is a bluesy rock tune that expresses the feelings of a person who is tired of feeling sad and hopeless. The opening lines of the chorus, "I'm so glad, I'm so glad, I'm glad, I'm glad, I'm glad" convey the singer's relief to finally feel a sense of happiness and contentment. The repetition of the word "glad" emphasizes the singer's newfound joy and is a common theme in blues music, which often highlights overcoming hardship.

The following lyrics, "Don't know what to do, tired of weeping, tired of moaning, tired of groaning for you" describe the singer's previous state of despair. The repetition of the phrase "tired of" emphasizes that the singer has reached a breaking point and is exhausted from their emotional turmoil. The line "for you" suggests that the singer's sadness was caused by a relationship that has now ended, and they can finally move on.

The final repetition of the chorus brings the song to a close, with the singer expressing their joy and gratitude for finally finding happiness. In addition to being a song about overcoming sadness, "I'm So Glad" showcases Cream's signature blues-influenced sound, featuring Eric Clapton's intricate guitar playing and Jack Bruce's soulful vocals.

Jack's bass had that "wooly" tone to it (like a truly great bassline should). Ginger's percussion is precise and righteous. Eric's guitar is psychedelic and bluesy resplendence at its best. The vocals exude a harmony that is hard to beat. Music like this is monumental. I'm so fortunate that I grew up with music such as this.

when Skip James was painfully dying from cancer, these three guys provided SIGNIFICANT financial support. and never advertised their action EVER. the Cream, a class act for sure.

Yes, Clapton's guitar soars in this tune.

This entire album will play endlessly in my mind until the day I die.

I think this is one of Clapton's 2 or 3 most perfect solos. You wouldn't change a note. The bass and drums provide perfect backing. In its way this is one of Cream's best performances.

This solo is just amazing. So simple at first sight but so delicate in execution and so great sounding. One of his best ever for sure! And what a tone!

George & All:  This is a Skip James song.  Old blues man who converted and went to church music for 30 years.  Was found in late '60s and was sick.  Cream used royalties for Skip's medical help and added years to his life.  Good works from a great musicians.  Thanks Jack, Eric & Ginger for rekindling Skip James' recognition AND for your music!

@Tony Thomas faith in humanity restored - did not know that - you do see a lot of "traditional" on older stuff

Thanks for sharing this with us! I find it reassuring that the boys could take a moment to consider paying tribute to a fellow musician. Especially with all the turmoil within the band! RIP, Ginger and Jack. And Eric...
...well, we all have to go our own way, right?!
