Stormy Monday
Cream Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

They called it stormy Monday
And Tuesday's just as bad
They called it stormy Monday
Tuesday's just as bad

Wednesday's the worst
And Thursday's also sad
Well, the eagle flies on Friday
And Saturday I go out and play
Don't you know that the eagle flies on Friday
And Saturday I go out and play

Sunday I'll go to church
Then I'll kneel down on my knees and I'll pray
Oh Lord, help me

Lord, have mercy
Lord, have mercy on me
Lord, have mercy, Lord, have mercy
Lord, have mercy on me

Said I done searched the whole world over
And I can't find my lover nowhere
Oh Lord

Said I cried, Lord have mercy
Lord have mercy on me
Said I cried, Lord have mercy
Lord have mercy on me

Send my baby back

Or I will live in misery
Oh Lord, hey hey

It;s not often said, but Eric Clapton sure can sing. Wish I had his range, intonations, and control. And , of course, he plays a little guitar, too.

@bigdunc91

Listen to the song 3 times and each time focus on 1 of their playing individually. Incredible.

No words needed here brother.

@djmcnerney

It’s a blues standard. Albert Collins does a great version too. So do BB King & Bobby Bland, together.

@ronaldrodriguez786

So much talent on that stage blows me away ❤

The older I get, the better this gets!

@BLUESMANRONCHICAGO

no matter who does this song, it remains to this day a blues classic, whether it's Eric, Bobby Bland, T Bone Walker, or Allman Brothers Band version, it has to be in the top five of all time Blues greats!!! I always perform this song when i sing and play at blues jams, my personal touch is a long harmonica solo in the middle, and i am singing it in memory of my son who died 3 years ago of lukemia.

@Ossesepia
