White Room
Cream Lyrics
In the white room with black curtains near the station
Black roof country, no gold pavements, tired starlings
Silver horses ran down moonbeams in your dark eyes
Dawnlight smiles on you leaving, my contentment
I'll wait in this place where the sun never shines
Wait in this place where the shadows run from themselves
You said no strings could secure you at the station
Platform ticket, restless diesels, goodbye windows
As I walked out, felt my own need just beginning
I'll wait in the queue when the trains come back
Lie with you where the shadows run from themselves
At the party she was kindness in the hard crowd
Consolation for the old wound now forgotten
Yellow tigers crouched in jungles in her dark eyes
She's just dressing, goodbye windows, tired starlings
I'll sleep in this place with the lonely crowd
Lie in the dark where the shadows run from themselves

"White Room", written by Jack Bruce and Pete Brown, is a single by Cream from their 1968 album Wheels of Fire.
After bassist Jack Bruce wrote the guitar pieces, Cream's lyricist, poet Pete Brown, grouped colorful four-syllable phrases, loosely organized around images of waiting in an English railway station influenced by the drugs he was taking. "White Room" is further noted for its unusual time signature of 5/4 in the introduction and bridge, with triplets played on toms by Ginger Baker, his thunderous bass drum part also lacing the verses. Finally, "White Room" is notable for showcasing guitarist Eric Clapton's best known use of the Vox Clyde McCoy Picture Wah (a device used to turn off bass and treble as the pedal is rocked) in the bridge and extended solo.
Along with "Sunshine of Your Love" and "Crossroads", White Room is one of Cream's most notable songs, reaching number 6 on the U.S. pop charts.

I'm here because my dad named me after the great Jack Bruce. Turns out I've been into this music since I was very young Rip Ginger Baker Rip Jack Bruce

I mean I love both. Music is one of my greatest hobbies (violinist of 46 years did the classical thing, had some fun in a jazz group even did electric violin rock/grunge.) On the other hand, I grew up with comics that had heroes and villains from science to fiction, people I could relate to, people who were scientists and inventors something I felt a great passion for but the movies saw that stuff as "nerdy" and uncool. It's really cool to see amazing stories from comics become the norm in mass movie-making but real nerds know that the insanity lives in the comics.

@Francesco Virgolinni The SS? The guys who hated down communists?
And I'm not talking just Hitler, I'm talking every capitalist regime. The American backed dictatorships in Chile, Nicaragua and other South American countries, the exploitation of Africa and India under colonialist powers, the attacks and murders of union members by police and corporate security, the deaths by a lack of healthcare in America and penalization of minor drug offenses on blacks and minorities, and the continued forever wars in the middle east.
What is the death toll for that? All of that?
