Creed is an American rock band from Tallahassee, Florida formed in 1994. Creed was prominent in the post-grunge movement of the late 1990s and early 2000s, releasing three consecutive multi-platinum albums; their second, Human Clay (1999), received diamond (11x platinum) certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Creed has sold over 28 million records in the United States, has sold over 53 million albums worldwide, and was the ninth best-selling musical act of the 2000s.
For most of its existence, the band has consisted of lead vocalist Scott Stapp, guitarist and vocalist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall, and drummer Scott Phillips. Creed's first two studio albums, My Own Prison (1997) and Human Clay (1999), were released to commercial success despite unfavorable critical reception; Marshall left the band in 2000. Human Clay remains one of the best-selling albums of all time and contained the Billboard Hot 100 number one single "With Arms Wide Open"—which also won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song. The band's third album, Weathered, was released in 2001, with Tremonti on bass guitar. Creed disbanded in 2004; Stapp pursued a solo career while Tremonti, Marshall, and Phillips founded the band Alter Bridge with Myles Kennedy.
Creed reunited in 2009, releasing their fourth album Full Circle and performing several tours before separating again in 2012. After an eleven-year hiatus, Creed reunited once more in July 2023 and announced their headlining of the Summer of '99 cruise festival in April 2024.

2. Creed was formed in 1977 by vocalist Steve Ingle and guitarist Luther Maben. Enlisting the services of Hal Butler (keyboards), James Flynn (bass), and Chip Thomas (drums), they were soon signed by Asylum Records. Their self-titled debut appeared in 1978 and was notable for "Time and Time Again," an epic southern-style guitar workout, comparable in stature to Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Freebird." Unable to attract enough media attention, the band split up shortly after the album's release.

3. There is also a German Christian metal band called Creed. They have released at least one album called "Sign of Victory" on the Pure Metal label in 1992.

Creed Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Time served on the earth
Doesn't mean you grow in mind
This is not about god
Spiritual insinuations seem
To shock our nation
Come with me I'm fading
Come with me
Come with me
Come with me now
This is not about race
It's a decision to stop the
Division in your life
This is not about sex
We all know sex sells and
The whole world is buying
Come with me I'm fading
Underneath the lights
Come with me
Come with me
Come with me now
Can't you see the signs?
See the signs now
Can't you see them?
See the signs
You see them
All the signs we see them
Can't you see them?
In Creed's song "Signs," the band tackles several societal issues such as ageism, religion, racism, and objectification of women. The band argues that we should evaluate people based on their character and not their age or outward appearance. The song highlights the importance of being open-minded to new ideas and not dismissing them just because they don't align with our beliefs. The lyrics "time served on the earth doesn't mean you grow in mind" emphasize this point. The song also points out the hypocrisy of people who claim to be religious but judge others based on their differences. The line "This is not about god, spiritual insinuations seem to shock our nation" highlights this.
The song's chorus, "Can't you see the signs?" is repeated several times to remind the listener to pay attention to what's happening around them. The song asks the listener to look beyond their preconceived notions and prejudices and recognize the signs of progress and change in society. The song's bridge "Come with me I'm fading underneath the lights, Come with me" is a call to action for people to come together and work towards a better society.
