Creed is an American rock band from Tallahassee, Florida formed in 1994. Creed was prominent in the post-grunge movement of the late 1990s and early 2000s, releasing three consecutive multi-platinum albums; their second, Human Clay (1999), received diamond (11x platinum) certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Creed has sold over 28 million records in the United States, has sold over 53 million albums worldwide, and was the ninth best-selling musical act of the 2000s.
For most of its existence, the band has consisted of lead vocalist Scott Stapp, guitarist and vocalist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall, and drummer Scott Phillips. Creed's first two studio albums, My Own Prison (1997) and Human Clay (1999), were released to commercial success despite unfavorable critical reception; Marshall left the band in 2000. Human Clay remains one of the best-selling albums of all time and contained the Billboard Hot 100 number one single "With Arms Wide Open"—which also won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song. The band's third album, Weathered, was released in 2001, with Tremonti on bass guitar. Creed disbanded in 2004; Stapp pursued a solo career while Tremonti, Marshall, and Phillips founded the band Alter Bridge with Myles Kennedy.
Creed reunited in 2009, releasing their fourth album Full Circle and performing several tours before separating again in 2012. After an eleven-year hiatus, Creed reunited once more in July 2023 and announced their headlining of the Summer of '99 cruise festival in April 2024.

2. Creed was formed in 1977 by vocalist Steve Ingle and guitarist Luther Maben. Enlisting the services of Hal Butler (keyboards), James Flynn (bass), and Chip Thomas (drums), they were soon signed by Asylum Records. Their self-titled debut appeared in 1978 and was notable for "Time and Time Again," an epic southern-style guitar workout, comparable in stature to Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Freebird." Unable to attract enough media attention, the band split up shortly after the album's release.

3. There is also a German Christian metal band called Creed. They have released at least one album called "Sign of Victory" on the Pure Metal label in 1992.
Young Grow Old
Creed Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Fighting the boy, and the man
Over his shoulder, there was freedom,
But consciousness has tied his hands
Am I at youth
Once his distinction
Now consciousness has tied hands
I said I'm not afraid of weakness
And that's the key to understand
So far in a distant land
No one thinks that the young man can
See the light through the open door
Sit and watch, as the young grow old
Watching the people in the circle
Watching the glass spill the sand
I said are you afraid of weakness
Well that's your key to understand
So far in a distant land
No one thinks that the young man can
See the light through the open door
Sit and watch, as the young grow old
So young grow old
So young grow old
So young grow older
Take 'em now, see the boy is free, yeah(?)
What to be, what to be
Take 'em now, she leans on weak, yeah(??)
Is this the way, this the way?
So far in a distant land
No one thinks that the young man can
See the light through the open door
Sit and watch, as the young grow old
The verses in "Young Grow Old" by Creed touch on the struggle between youth and maturity. The singer, in a way, is reminiscing about the past or the glory days. They make reference to a time when they had freedom, represented in the line "over his shoulder, there was freedom." Nevertheless, something has changed as the singer currently feels like he is fighting between the boy he once was and the man he has turned into. The lyrics "am I at youth, once his distinction, now consciousness has tied hands" could relate to the restrictions and responsibilities of adulthood. The singer may now believe that youth was only a fleeting moment and that they are now tied with life’s responsibilities which were waiting for them sooner or later.
The chorus “So far in a distant land, no one thinks that the young man can see the light through the open door, sit and watch, as the young grow old” seems to indicate a character doubting whether he or anyone else can reclaim youthful abandon. His uncertainty is autobiographical since he speaks from his person. In a way, he sounds like he's giving up on the idea of returning to that glorious past he once had, as that golden opportunity is now closing. However, the singer doesn’t want others to make the same mistake he has. He urges people not to be afraid to show their vulnerabilities, and not try to be strong just to look good. He believes that accepting and confronting our weaknesses is the key to understanding ourselves and living a gratifying life.

Lyrics
[Verse 1]
He said he's falling to pieces
Fighting the boy and the man
Over his shoulder there was freedom
But consciousness has tied his hands
Embodied youth was his distinction
Now inhibition's in demand
So driven by his fear of weakness
That's his key to understand
[Chorus]
So far in a distant land
There's a fight between boy and man
See the light through the open door
Sit and watch as the young grow old
[Verse 2]
Trading places in the circle
Turn the glass, spill the sand
They say that time can make the difference
But age doesn't make you a man
[Chorus]
So far in a distant land
There's a fight between boy and man
See the light through the open door
Sit and watch as the young grow old
(Guitar Solo)
[Bridge]
So young but overblown
So young but overblown
So young but overblown
(So young but overblown)
So young but overblown
Take a look now, see the boy is weakened
Watch him fade, watch him fade away
Take a bow and the boy is defeated
Is this the way, this the way?
[Chorus]
So far in a distant land
There's a fight between boy and man
See the light through the open door
Sit and watch as the young grow old

Mi canción favorita de Creed, la eterna lucha entre el hombre y el niño que todos llevamos dentro o también puede ser vista como esa etapa en la que dejamos de ser niños para convertirnos en hombres de verdad.
