Open Your Eyes
Crematory Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

With love and hate so many lies and so much pain
a lonesome cry death has won the game
I want to see your eyes watching me
I want to feel your hands touching me
let me be your slave the last second of your life

Open your soul, open your heart
open your mind, open your eyes

Forget what you have seen and swallow my judgement
the greatest believers some painfull deceivers
gossip had crossed my way now swallow the answers
nothing to damn my cunning forget what you have seen

With pain and fear so many times so many crimes
a lonesome way life has lost the game
I want to hold your heart hurting me

I want to know your thoughts speak to me
let me be your tool last moments of your time

Overall Meaning

The song "Open your Eyes" by Crematory is a powerful and emotional piece that explores the themes of love, hate, pain, death, and the desire for control. The opening lines paint a bleak picture of the world, with love and hate intertwined and lies and pain abound. The second line, "a lonesome cry death has won the game," is particularly poignant, hinting at the ultimate futility of life and the inevitability of death.

The chorus of the song is a call to action, urging the listener to open their soul, heart, mind, and eyes. This can be interpreted in a few different ways. On one level, it could be a plea for emotional vulnerability and honesty. On another level, it could be a darker message about control and domination, with the singer wanting to open their subject's eyes to their own powerlessness.

The second verse picks up on the themes of pain and fear and the ways in which life can feel like a lost game. The singer wants to hold their subject's heart, even if it hurts them, and to know their thoughts. This could be seen as an attempt to understand and connect with someone who is going through a difficult time, or it could be a more sinister desire to manipulate and use them.

Overall, "Open your Eyes" is a song that explores some heavy themes and leaves a lot up to interpretation. Its dark and moody sound, combined with the emotional weight of the lyrics, make it a standout track in Crematory's discography.

it is melodic industrial/synth/death metal or something like this... like you start with a 80's synth pop/dark wave base + add groovy industrial kind sampled tone riffs, a bit of growls and gothish harmony... these all in it... Depeche meets Rammstein meets Sisters of Mercy..

Dexter Shadowheart
