1) A German Death Metal (early), Gothic Metal band formed in Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany in 1992.
The German Crematory broke up in 2001 and reformed in 2003 to release the album Revolution, a largely progressive effort which brought the band into more accessible/techno-metal territory than ever before.
Their sound has often been compared to early-Sentenced, Fear Factory, and Dark Tranquillity. The band received its earliest recognition in the mid-1990s by touring with My Dying Bride, Tiamat and Atrocity. Much like the latter two groups, the band had begun as traditional death metal, then evolved with an industrial music and gothic metal musical direction on later albums. The band would receive heavy rotation on MTV Germany, and would also make appearances at various extreme metal festivals, including Germany's Wacken Open Air in the years 1996, 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2008, in addition to inclusion on Nuclear Blast compilation samplers.
The band re-signed to Massacre Records in 2006 after a 10 year stint with Nuclear Blast; Massacre had been the band's first label.
Active for almost 20 years (with a brief split between 2001 and 2003) they are among one of Europe's longest running bands affiliated with the gothic metal genre. (source wikipedia.com)

Crematory Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
That you can't behold your life passing you by
Wake up brisk before you vanity breaks you
Open your eyes while you still can
When you need me - just before the memory you
Hear my voice coming through your mind
When you need me - just before the memory
Your friends suffocated by your ego
Your siblings haven't known you for a long time
Even death refuses to tread on your doorstep
Ensued the false passage all your life
When you need me - just before the memory you
Hear my voice coming through your mind
When you need me - just before the memory
Hear my voice coming through your mind
No one here that misses you again
No one here to show you how to fly
Have no respectt for life
Have no revernce for death
Mercy a world used by losers
Pain and sorrow gifts from heaven
Never will you love
Never will you live
When you need me - just before the memory you
Hear my voice coming through your mind
When you need me - just before the memory
Hear my voice coming through your mind
The song Shining by Crematory is a poignant and thought-provoking composition that touches upon the theme of ego, vanity, and mortality. The lyrics of the song are a reflection on how our fixation with ourselves can prevent us from truly living life to its fullest, as we become consumed by our own self-importance. It is a call to awaken from our self-centeredness and to be mindful of the choices we make and the impact they have on others.
The opening lines "You are so fixed with yourself, That you can't behold your life passing you by" immediately sets the tone of the song, emphasizing the importance of self-awareness and the need to break free from the shackles of one's own ego. The following lines "Wake up brisk before your vanity breaks you, Open your eyes while you still can" are an urgent plea to the listener to break away from the self-centeredness that blinds them from the reality of their existence.
The song continues to highlight how our fixation with ourselves can cause us to lose touch with those around us, as "Your friends suffocated by your ego, Your siblings haven't known you for a long time." It also reflects on the inevitability of death and how our self-obsession can make us forget the reality of our mortality. "Even death refuses to tread on your doorstep, Ensued the false passage all your life."
In the chorus, the lyrics "When you need me - just before the memory you, Hear my voice coming through your mind" offer a glimmer of hope amidst the despair, as the singer seems to be offering a lifeline to the listener, urging them to break free from their ego before it's too late.
In conclusion, Crematory's Shining is a poignant reminder of the importance of being mindful of our thoughts and actions, and the impact they have on ourselves and those around us. It is a call to awaken from our self-centeredness, to be humble, and to live life to its fullest before it's too late.
