Time For Bed
Cressida Lyrics

The sun's sunk into the sea
While I've seen the red now
Clock says it's time for bed
Well, it's been on all the summer long
How happy we've been
Now we're moving on
Turn left around before the next bar
Come and see won't you be
Sun out the coming time
The lyrics of Cressida's song "Time for Bed" describe the transition from summer to fall, the end of a happy period and the need to move on. The opening lines set a cozy and peaceful atmosphere, with the evening coming "down the stairs" and the sun setting in the sea. The singer acknowledges the passing of time and the colors changing, "while [she's] seen the red now", indicating a moment of reflection and awareness. The clock telling her it's time for bed is presented as a natural consequence of the world around her, as if everything is following a predetermined rhythm.
As the song progresses, there's a sense of nostalgia and regret for what has been left behind. The lines "Well, it's been on all the summer long, how happy we've been" reflect on a past experience that was joyful and fulfilling, but has come to an end. The need to "leave behind that sea" suggests that the singer is parting ways with a location or a person that has been important to her. However, she also seems to be looking forward to new possibilities, inviting the listener to "turn left around before the next bar" and "come and see" what the future holds. The closing line "sun out the coming time" is ambiguous but could be interpreted as a hopeful statement, suggesting that even though the sun has set on this period of her life, there's still light ahead.
