Criolo began rapping in São Paulo, in 1989, and until the early 2000 was almost unknown. In 2006, he released his first studio album, entitled 'Ainda há tempo' and founded the Rinha dos MC's, a place where there are weekly shows, graffiti and photography exhibitions and freestyle.
In 2008, won the "Song of the Year" and "Person of the Year" in the fourth edition of the event "O Rap é compromisso."
To celebrate his twenty year career, he recorded a live DVD in the Rinha dos MC's, which was released in 2010, called Criolo Doido Live in SP.

Mexeu com nois assim... so so sorte
Mexeu com nois assim... so so sorte
Mexeu com nois assim... so so sorte
Mexeu com nois assim... so so sorte
Eu numa luta coverde vou seguindo, tossindo
Luta, luta, luta, luta, luta, luta, luta, luta,
Luta, luta, luta, luta, luta, luta, luta, luta...
Mexeu com nois assim... so so sorte
Tô com a favela eu tô forte...
The lyrics to Criolo's song Tô Pra Vê are about standing strong and fighting against the odds. The opening line "Tô pra ver um daqui sucumbir" means "I want to see someone here succumb." Criolo then warns that even if someone may smile and appear to have power in the moment, in the end, they will be the ones to cry. The lyrics then go on to express the strength and unity of the favela community and the music's importance as a tool for speaking truth.
The second verse continues to express the reality of life in the favelas and the struggle against societal inequalities. Criolo raps that he is not just a star in the rap genre, but a weapon that spits truth and fights against despair and suffering. The lyrics touch on themes of hardship, injustice, and the desire for basic needs like water, while also emphasizing the importance of perseverance and not giving up. Criolo also speaks about the importance of education and the fight against poverty and spiritless living.
Overall, Tô Pra Vê is an anthem for strength in the face of oppression, unity in community, and perseverance in the fight against inequality.
