Fantasia
Cronos Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Within your wildest dreams, the fiery waves sing doom
Guarding well the darkness, praying to the moon
Wolves in packs howl out in death
Fantasia, fantasia, fantasia
No sanctuary in sight, through catacombs of web
Walls of skulls scream out in pain
Fantasia, fantasia, fantasia
When peace has left insane, and silent grows the fields
Listen and remain, life is death's to steal
Cupid burns and breathes disgust
Fantasia, fantasia, fantasia, fantasia
The lyrics of "Fantasia" by Cronos depict a grim, fantastical world where death and darkness reign supreme. The imagery evokes a feeling of hopelessness and despair, with the fiery waves singing doom and the walls of skulls screaming out in pain. The wolves howling in packs add to the mystical feel of the song, as if the listener is transported to a different realm altogether. The lyrics warn of the absence of sanctuary, and the catacombs of web serve as a metaphor for the intricate and confusing paths that life can take. The chorus of "fantasia" is repeated throughout the song, almost like a mantra, as if to signify that this is the only reality the listener can hope to find.
The lyrics also touch upon themes of love and its complexities. Cupid, who is traditionally depicted as a symbol of love and affection, is shown here as burning with disgust. It could symbolize the bitter, painful side of love that we usually try to ignore. "Fantasia" as a whole is a song that beautifully captures the darker aspects of the human psyche, and the eerie, foreboding atmosphere it creates stays with the listener long after the song ends.
