Creating music that has one foot in the indie genre and one foot in a darker electronic realm, Crooked Coloursโ sound has often been compared to a combination of English indie-rock foursome Alt J and US electronic duo Crystal Castles.
To date the band has been fortunate enough to play at Parklife, Wonderland and St Jerome's Laneway festivals, as well as sharing the stage with the likes of Flume, Grafton Primary and PNAU. 2013 also saw Crooked Colours support RรFรS on their sold out national tour.
Crooked Colours will be releasing their 'In Your Bones' EP featuring their hit track 'Come Down' in May this year through Sweat It Out Music! before a full Australian tour in July

Crooked Colours Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I landed in the jungle
I've spent the whole time lost in the clouds
I've lost my body in the summer storm
Somewhere over the ocean
I think my mind may also be gone
Is what I need to apparel
Just to level it out and make a new plan
Seems to me just to fall apart
To trembling cold
So I pray my eyes and ears will be last
"My flow's to"
See nobody go anymore
I'm gonna start to bleed on the floor
"My flow's to"
"My flow's to"
"MY flow's to"
"Flow's to"
I took off in the paradise
I landed in the jungle
I spent the whole time watching my back
I see you coming in the monsoon
Somewhere over the ocean
And I swear it means more now that I'm done
"Flow's to"
See nobody go anymore
I'm gonna start to bleed on the floor
So flow's to be strong gone girl
I see my body go
Flow's on
Flow's to
Flow's to
Flow's to
Flow's to
Flow's to
Flow's to
The lyrics of Crooked Coloursโ โFlowโ are cryptic and emotionally ambiguous. The opening lines โI took off from paradise, I landed in the jungleโ suggest this is a song about a journey or quest of some kind. However, as the song goes on it becomes increasingly unclear what the singer is seeking. He feels lost and adrift, and his mind and body seem to have detached from each other. He wishes for โsomething more than a steady handโ โ perhaps a metaphor for a stronger, more guiding force in his life. The line โJust to level it out and make a new planโ is particularly telling โ it suggests that the singer has hit a dead-end in some area of his life and needs to regroup and come up with a new strategy.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase โmy flowโs to.โ Itโs not clear what this means exactly, but it seems to be a personal mantra or affirmation of some kind. The phrase โIโm gonna start to bleed on the floorโ is a jarring lyric that adds to the overall sense of unease and uncertainty. The singer is in a vulnerable, exposed state, and itโs not clear whether this is literal or figurative. The final lines of the song, โFlowโs on, flowโs to,โ suggest a cyclical process of movement and change โ the singer is still searching and striving, but heโs not sure where heโs going or what heโll find when he gets there.
