Crosby Bing Lyrics

I didn't want to do it
I didn't want to do it
You made me want you
And all the time you knew it
I guess you always knew it
You made me happy sometimesYou made me glad
But there were times
You made me feel so bad
You made me cry for
I didn't want to tell you
I didn't want to tell you
I want some love that's true
Yes, I do, 'deed I do
You know I do
Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme what I cry for
You know you've got the brand of kisses
That I'd die for
You know you made me love you
You made me cry for
I didn't want to tell you
I didn't want to tell you
I want some love that's true
Yes, I do, 'deed I do
You know I do
Gimme, gimme, gimme, gimme what I cry for
You know you've got the brand of kisses
That I'd die for
You know you made me love you
In the song "You Made Me Love You" by Crosby Bing, the lyrics depict a complex emotional journey influenced by the actions of another person. The singer begins by acknowledging that they were initially resistant to falling in love, expressing, "You made me love you, I didn't want to do it, I didn't want to do it." There is a sense of surrender, as if the singer had no control over their own emotions.
The next lines continue to emphasize this feeling of being powerless against the object of their affection: "You made me want you, and all the time you knew it, I guess you always knew it." The singer implies that the person they are addressing had a clear awareness of the effect they had on their emotions. It suggests a level of manipulation or playing with the singer's feelings.
The following lines express a mix of emotions experienced throughout the relationship. The singer admits to being made happy and glad by the person they love, but also acknowledges moments when they felt miserable: "But there were times you made me feel so bad." This indicates that the relationship must have had its ups and downs, with the person they love having the ability to both lift their spirits and cause them sadness.
The lyrics then highlight the vulnerability of the singer, confessing that the person they love made them cry even when they didn't want to admit it: "You made me cry for, I didn't want to tell you, I didn't want to tell you." This line suggests that the singer may have kept their true emotions hidden, possibly due to fear or uncertainty.
The final lines of the song emphasize the yearning for genuine love, affirming the desire for a love that is true: "I want some love that's true, yes, I do, 'deed I do, you know I do." The repetition of the phrase "gimme what I cry for" emphasizes the singer's desperation for the affection they long for. The lyrics end by acknowledging that the person they love possesses a unique quality of affection, the "brand of kisses that I'd die for." It is a testament to the depth of their love and longing.
Overall, "You Made Me Love You" showcases the journey of love and emotional turmoil experienced by the singer. It portrays a complex relationship in which the object of the singer's affection holds a significant power over their emotions, causing both happiness and heartbreak. The lyrics express the singer's yearning for authentic love and their deep longing for the one who has captured their heart.

Bing was the main Crooner of the late 1920ās through the 1940ās. This tune is beautifully crafted.

This version sounds less to me like a sincere profession of love, more so a humorous depiction of a Morris Townsend type character: handsome, charming, but nevertheless a charlatan.
@Trombonology
Though Bing is easily my favourite male vocalist, I'm afraid I consider this sprightly reading of the sentimental oldie a bit of a misstep. Adroit as he is, considering the brisk tempo, his phrasing still sounds a bit awkward. Not every song worked with a jived up treatment.

I disagree.

@@Mr.SLovesTheSacredHeartofJesus That's fine. I'm not trying to convert anyone -- merely expressing my own opinion.
