Kill Everything
Crossbreed Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You wanted this to fuck everyone you know, no ones the same
Kill everyone, that you see, and there is nobody left but me
That's ok, you will never live another day
You did this to you
You did this to you
There's no one awaiting it's so frustrating and why do I
You did this to you
You did this to you
You did this to you
Kill everyone, that you see, and there is nobody left but me
That's ok, cause you will never live another day
There's no one awaiting it's so frustrating and why do I
The lyrics of Crossbreed's "Kill Everything" are intense and very much reflect the aggressive tone of the metal genre. The song is a commentary on the self-destructive tendencies of humanity, particularly those who have a pathological need to compete and one-up others in every aspect of their lives. It paints a picture of someone who is so consumed by their own desire to be the best that they don't know how to relate to others in any other way. The lyrics speak to the idea that this person is going to "kill everyone" they see, metaphorically speaking, leaving only the singer to bear witness to the destruction they've wrought.
The repetition of the phrase "You did this to you" throughout the song highlights the idea that this person is responsible for their own destruction. By constantly pitting themselves against others, they've created a reality where they are the only one left, as everyone else has either been destroyed or moved on. The frustration and confusion expressed by the singer in the final lines of the song underscore the idea that there is no sense in this kind of competition and violence - it only leads to destruction.
