The Calling
Crossbreed Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'll sell my soul to make a dollar of all of you
I'll take whatever I can get until you do it too
You say you give a fuck
The crucifiction just leave me alone
When all I need is your consent to carry me
Your bleeding us all
You've seen my face a million times
Now it's religiously
Can't pay the bills because you spent it on the T.V.
And you believe this is a calling
But it was all inside my head
You say you give a fuck
I believe in the coming of angels bleeding us all
The crucifiction just leave me alone
When all I need is your consent to carry me
The crucifiction just leave me alone
When all I need is your consent to carry me
And you believe this is a calling
But it was all inside my head
I believe in the coming of angels bleeding us all
The crucifiction just leave me alone
When all I need is your consent to carry me
I won't be the same ever again
I won't wear the blame ever again
The lyrics of Crossbreed's song, The Calling, are complex and thought-provoking. The song starts with the singer stating his belief in the coming of the angels who are bleeding us all. This line represents the singer's viewpoint about the world, as he sees it as a place of distress and chaos. In the next line, the singer expresses his willingness to sell his soul to make a dollar of all of us. This line represents the evil side of society that tempts people to do wrong things for their benefits. The line "I'll take whatever I can get until you do it too" signifies the singer's desire to be one step ahead of everyone else, even if it means exploiting others.
The line "Your bleeding us all" refers to the exploiting of people by those in power. The singer is expressing his frustrations with the people's constant suffering in society. The next few lines describe the singer's despair and his need for help. The singer is pleading for someone to carry him by granting him consent. The line "And you believe this is a calling, but it was all inside my head" signifies the singer's disillusionment with the world. He acknowledges that he has been deluded into thinking that there is something greater than himself and reality.
The song ends with the singer expressing his desire to change and be free of society's constant expectations. The line "I won't be the same ever again, I won't wear the blame ever again" signifies the singer's desire to leave behind his past and become a better person.
