Overall Meaning

The song "II" by Cruces is essentially a love letter to the city of Temuco, in Chile. It is a nostalgic and affectionate ode to the characters, places, and events that make up the city's history and popular culture. The song is divided into different parts, each one recounting a specific memory or experience of a different person associated with Temuco. The chorus repeats the same refrain throughout the song, emphasizing the beauty and majesty of the city's natural surroundings.

One interesting aspect of the song is the use of different voices and perspectives to create a collective portrait of the city. Each verse is attributed to a different person, some of whom are identified by name, while others remain anonymous. Together, they form a tapestry of memories and impressions that capture the singular essence of Temuco. Another notable element of the song is its attention to detail and specificity. Every place and person mentioned in the lyrics is real and recognizable to those familiar with the city, which gives the song an added layer of authenticity and intimacy.

Overall, "II" is a celebration of place and community, a tribute to the small moments that make up the fabric of a city's identity. It is a fitting tribute to Temuco, a city that occupies a special place in the hearts of those who call it home.

As a Temuco native, it's impossible to forget the many things that have happened in the city, including its people and popular history. I'll mention a few stories that weren't included in my previous version of this song, recorded ten years ago. Today, my friends join me in singing the same tune but with additional guests.

On a hot Friday, I went to buy ice cream at a local ice cream shop called 'Coleto 18.' After getting off the bus, I went to another store called 'LB' to get a chocolate. Then, I walked to the 'Carrusel' bar and ran into a friend, Colito, who I invited to the 'Che Carlos' pub.

That same night, I went on a long bar crawl throughout the city, wearing my blue shirt with the Coat of Arms of Coilaco. I stopped by the 'Tariko' bar but it was already closed, so I went to 'Edipra' instead. Later, I went to 'El Bajo' which was located close to the stadium.

Llegó el domingo y una cita programé cupido me había flechado quedamos de juntarnos en el rapa nui para almorzar algo liviano pero un completo el garzón nos ofreció y ahí yo le tomé la mano y a la once en el pannini lo besé es un romance culinario.
On Sunday, I had a date and arranged to meet my partner at 'Rapa Nui' for a light lunch. However, the waiter convinced us to get a typical Chilean hot dog called 'completo.' We held hands and later shared a kiss at the 'Pannini' cafe. It was a culinary romance.

Aunt Báltica lent me a container so that the group could keep chatting. We bought some snacks from a street vendor, but suddenly it started raining. The vendor warned us that the snacks were fresh and could spoil quickly. Meanwhile, a dog barked at us, but we recognized it as the affectionate 'A 28' group's mascot.

We went to see 'Manpoval' at the 'OBA' bar before heading to the 'Vulcano' bar. There, Manriquez mentioned that music brings people together as brothers. Some of us continued to 'Colonial' or 'Sambacanuta' later, but I stayed at the 'Toneles' bar and played a game of pool for 1,000 Chilean pesos.
