He didn't mean to make you sad, he didn't know what you carry on your back
All the stones you've painted
With the colours of your sorrow, the black in your story
Will never fade, you'd better deal with it
Don't walk away
& it's a hard life to be a tough girl
Jennyfer, it's a dirty kind of love
Jennyfer, you don't need it anymore
Jennyfer, let your heart have a rest
It's been broken
So many times before
I'm here for you he said, but he couldn't carry all your fear
He didn't mean to let you down, but he couldn't stay to dry your tears
All the friend you turn to when the worlds getting dark
Is the loneliest now
It' all fake, you'd better run girl
Or you'll break
& it's a hard life to be a tough girl
But deep within you're not mean
Jennyfer, it's a dirty kind of love
Jennyfer, you don't need it anymore
Jennyfer, let your heart have a rest
It's been broken
So many times before
Your heart's desire
Is a long lost dream coming back
No words, no fear, no one
Could bring you down this time
Jennyfer
It's a dirty kind of love
It won't break your heart
Just tear it apart
It's a dirty kind of love
Jennyfer, it's a dirty kind of love
Jennyfer, you don't need it anymore
Jennyfer, let your heart have a rest
It's been broken
So many times before
It's a dirty kind of love
Jennyfer, you don't need it anymore
Jennyfer, let your heart have a rest
It's been broken
So many times before
The lyrics to Crucified Barbara's song "Jennyfer" tell the story of a young woman who has been hurt so many times that she has become tough and untrusting of others. The song begins with a man telling her that she is beautiful, but it turns out that he has hurt her once again. Throughout the song, the lyrics describe the weight of all the hurtful experiences that Jennyfer has accumulated, represented by the stones she has painted with the colors of her sorrow. Despite this, the lyrics also suggest that Jennyfer is not mean, but rather has been forced to put up a tough exterior in order to protect herself from further pain.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the idea that the love Jennyfer has experienced has been a "dirty kind of love" that has repeatedly broken her heart. The lyrics acknowledge that while Jennyfer's heart desire is to find love and connection with others, she has been let down so many times that it is difficult for her to trust anyone. Ultimately, the song urges Jennyfer to let her heart rest and move on from the hurt of the past, recognizing that the tough exterior she has developed may no longer be serving her well.
