The group have very quickly made a name for themselves in the world music scene. Releasing their self titled debut in February of 2007 on High 4 Records, Crush Luther experienced success quicker then most bands do. Their first single City Girl quickly shot to the number one spot on the MuchMoreMusic countdown. Their second single, The Cools, enjoyed heavy rotation on MuchMusic plus a number two spot on MuchTop10s. Crush Luther did multiple nation-wide tours in support of the release and appeared on several national TV shows including ET Canada, Breakfast TV, YTV’s The Zone and Canada AM. But after the success of their debut album, the band hit a rough patch - three members left, leaving only Luther Mallory and Matt Leitch. Mallory says, “It seemed impossible to continue. More than half the band had quit. But, Matt and I have played in bands together since we were 16 years old so what else were we really going to do? It was either find a way to rebuild, or become those people who live normal, respectable lives. The choice was obvious.”
With a fresh line up and a renewed sense of determination, the guys of Crush Luther have recorded another full length CD, (to be released in the fall of (2009), and will no doubt build on the success of their self-titled debut. 2009 looks to be another great year for Crush Luther.

You think that nobody's with you
You hate as much about the wind in the trees
Well you know, you might learn to like a little bit of
Cool breeze, as long as no one's around
You're coming along now rudy don't you want to know?
Well sort it out, cause don't you wonder what the world holds?
Love to be all she's ever had, tied to you and hoping
You don't ever let it go
I don't believe the things that you complain about
And you don't see that politics and poetry
Won't get you what you want
You're coming along now rudy who's in front of you?
And you're the one crying "only if the world knew"
And now you wonder why you're 21, soon 22
And nobody's with you
Rudy put your writing on your bedroom wall
And you know, and you know you're the wise one
Your sister's got you wrong, your mama doesn't know
Or maybe you're just supposed to be alone
Maybe you're just supposed to be alone
In Crush Luther's song Rudy, the lyrics delve into the internal struggles of Rudy, a young adult who appears to be isolated and pessimistic about life. The song starts by expressing that Rudy's negative attitude must take up all his energy. He believes that no one is with him, which results in his hatred towards minor things like the wind in the trees. The lyrics suggest that Rudy needs to learn to appreciate a little bit of cool breeze and enjoy it, but only when no one is around. This could be interpreted as Rudy not wanting to appear vulnerable in front of others.
The chorus of the song encourages Rudy to sort himself out and wonder about what the world holds for him. The fact that he's approaching 22 and still alone suggests that he needs to take charge of his life and figure out what he wants. The following lyrics convey a feeling of longing for love and companionship. The line "love to be all she's ever had, tied to you and hoping you don't ever let it go" portrays a desire for love and loyalty. However, the lyrics express skepticism towards Rudy's complaints, implying that he needs to stop feeling sorry for himself and start working towards his goals.
The lyrics also mention politics and poetry, suggesting that Rudy may be investing his time in these passions instead of focusing on his personal life. The second chorus encourages Rudy to look forward instead of constantly being engulfed in his own self-pity. The final lyrics suggest that Rudy is misunderstood by his family and that he may even believe that he is supposed to be alone. The song's overall message is to encourage Rudy to stop focusing on things that are out of his control and start taking action to get what he wants in life.
