Overall Meaning

"Move On" by Crystal Kay is a song about moving on from lost love and self-discovery. The chorus talks about reclaiming lost love and pride and moving forward in life, with the lyrics "Ushinawareta love of jewel to / Hokori torimodose / Subete wa mirai no tame ni / Katahou dake nokosareta piasu mitai ni / Nido to kitto tsukaesou mo nai" which roughly translates to "Regain the lost love of the jewel / Take pride in it / Everything is for the future / Only one side is left like a leftover piece / It won't be of use twice." The verses describe the singer being in a bad headspace, feeling misunderstood, and unsure about who she is. She seeks understanding from others but ultimately comes to realize that her own self-love and self-acceptance are the most important things.

The lyrics are open to interpretation, but the chorus seems to be inspired by the Japanese legend of the Ama pearl divers, in which women divers would plunge into the ocean to collect pearls and other treasures. The lost love is represented by a jewel, which the singer must reclaim by diving into the depths of herself and finding her own worth. This is further emphasized by the line "Subete wa mirai no tame ni" which means "Everything is for the future," implying that the singer must leave the past behind and focus on self-improvement.
