River
Cubanate / Think About Mutation / Oomph! Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Fuck off I don't want to be,
I don't need to be, that's my guarantee
Don't follow me don't step inside of me
With my technology I see what I'll be

[Chorus]
Take my power
Don't believe me
Execute me
Smell the fever
Feel the river
Drown in my tears
Feel the river
Drown in abyss

Fuck off I don't want to be,
I don't need to be, that's my guarantee
Don't follow me don't step inside of me
With my technology I see what I'll be

[Chorus]

Rip off you don't want to see,
You don't need to be, that's my fantasy
I'd never dreamed last night it's gonna be alright
In your geography I'll be what I see

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "River" by Cubanate / Think About Mutation / Oomph! convey a sense of rebellion and defiance as the singer expresses their desire to be left alone and not follow society's expectations of them. The lines "Fuck off I don't want to be, I don't need to be, that's my guarantee" signify the singer's rejection of societal norms and their determination to carve their own path in life. Similarly, the line "With my technology I see what I'll be" could be interpreted as the singer using their own intuition and foresight to guide their decisions and actions, rather than society's expectations.

The chorus of the song is particularly interesting as it presents conflicting ideas. The lines "Take my power" and "Smell the fever" suggest that the singer is urging others to join them and embrace their individuality, while the lines "Don't believe me" and "Execute me" suggest a sense of danger and possible repercussion for following this path. The repetition of "Feel the river" and "Drown in my tears/Drown in abyss" create a sense of drowning or being overwhelmed, perhaps reflecting the difficulty of going against societal norms.

The final verse of the song introduces a new perspective, with the lines "Rip off you don't want to see, You don't need to be, that's my fantasy" implying that the singer is intentionally trying to shake up societal norms and expectations. The line "In your geography I'll be what I see" could be interpreted as the singer taking control of their own environment and shaping it to reflect their own values and desires.

Good old memories. THIS COMMENT WILL OUTLIVE ME!
