Cubeatz does actually hire musicians to record compositions for some samples. I got some samples from them that has an collab tag in the title of the sample which shows that they do have musicians to get real instrument recordings from to process. Normally they do the mixing ja obs when they have other musicians to record for example flutes from. And I just wanna clarify that i do not have any fame that lead to me getting samples from them. I got them from reddit. The people on reddit is crazy when it comes to cubeatz. Some people have some how leaked their unreleased samples and some others have also got their adresses like where their studio is at etc. Its messed up fr, i mean everyone trying to locate them its so messed up..

I know this thread is old... But a lot of people forget that one of the hardest parts is getting the beat to an artist.

Its a skill to know what beats to play when in the studio with a rapper. Knowing what will fit them most / what mood are they in. Plus sometimes you only get 3-5 beats to play, and thats it. No one will sit and listen to you play mid beats over and over.

Sure, the beat wouldn't exist without the samplemaker, but there wouldn't be a SONG if the producer didn't place the beat with a rapper / singer.
It'd just be a beat sitting on someones harddrive.

But still, huge respect to these guys / all samplemakers. They get paid (usually an even 50% split), but they do deserve WAY more credit for the music they create.

Pretty much, that's why I personally DON'T put them on the pedestal that many others do. I reserve that clout for guys like Scott Storch, J.R. Rotem, Ken Lewis, Focus, among many others from an older school of music production. Guys who can sample AND actually compose their own melodies.

I have actually a pretty good knowledge of cubeatz. I started learning myself cubeatz melody making technique last year and got to know alot. And I also started researching about cubeatz and found a very interesting topic about them that they have use their creativity a lot on their melody making process, and they are also hiring musicians that are playing real instruments to record for some compositions. And those instruments are not always a guitar and flute. They do actually record kalimbas and gamelan instruments. So the whole thing with cubeatz is that they have a spectacular creativity. So basically to learn cubeatz vibes. You have to open your mind in order to let your creativity flow after you've learned about the music theories. Those music theories is just as normal as the reglar music theory. The secret key is the creativity. It involves experimenting with velocity, sound selection and mixing.

Thing is, there is not shortage of producers and not all producers consistently make good music. Those that do become celebrities. Many producers are household names. That certainly wasn't the case in the prior to the 90s.

Side fact, they are from Sindelfingen in the swabian region in Germany (stuttgart is the capital, Im from there too) and their work ethic is totally what the mindset of this area is like - Working very hard while keeping a low profile. I think people are overdoing it with Cubeatz, I agree their melodies are great, but saying Metro and Murda wouldn't have these hits without them is just bullshit, they would just use different samples or make them themselves (it's not like they're incapable of making dope melodies). And anyone who produces knows getting those dope, really catchy drums is just as difficult. I'm not gonna argue it's more difficult because it's neither, but claiming one is harder than the other is also not true.

As a german i can tell you at least something, they were making beats for german underground rappers before they send out samples. Don't know how they got into making these crazy samples or contact with big producers but they somehow did. Seems weird that they went up out of nowhere. I've heard that they get live musicians together and then mixing it with old analog hardware stuff to make these samples.
