Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah, right
Back with the shit, I empty my clip
I fracture my wrist in the fuckin pit
I do what I want, I don't give a shit
Fuck you if you don't fuck with it
I'm back with the doom trap
Where the fuckin beats at?
All I get is backstabbed
Yeah, that's a deathtrap
And I'm falling to my kneecaps
I feel like Satan
Up eat em' up
I'm in saw
What you want
I been sippin on the sauce
I be lost, yuh, yuh
Trynna maintain my mainframe
Nothin ever been same
Rappin wit a yingling
Errybody sayin things
Errybody talkin behind my back
Get smacked in the face ya
You just scared
They gone replace ya
I break my mind
On a grindstone
Fly home
I wanna die
When I lie

Never die whole
No!

Overall Meaning

In the Cults song “We” the lyrics depict a yearning for a love that is both complicated and painful. The theme seems to be a cyclical pattern of feelings; that with each attempt, the love will either never last or will inevitably lead to heartache. The singer of the song discusses driving back and forth, spending 45 minutes each way, just to stay with their love interest whom they seemingly cannot bear to be away from. They then contemplate if the person in their company is the ideal version of themselves, or simply a reflection of what they had hoped for. There is a feeling of insecurity when the singer notes the presence of other boys at the love interest's door, which leads to some intense self-reflection.

The artist then speaks of a desire to know what their partner wants from them, while simultaneously revealing the fear of being hurt by this person. There is also a mention of the use of a mirror to provide them with clarity. The lyrics that follow are a beautiful self-reflection that delves deeper into the inner thoughts and feelings circling around the singer’s complex and tangled feelings. They talk about how if they were more comfortable with themselves, they would have left the person they love for their own good, instead of remaining in a dissatisfying relationship. The song ends with a final plea – the singer asks to be reassured that things will be okay, no matter what. These lyrics are open to interpretation, but it seems the singer is journeying through the idea of constantly conflicted emotions and questions what an ideal future may look like with their love interest.

You and me always forever
We could stay alone together
You and me always forever
Say you'll stay never be separate

You know you've got me in your pocket
You know just have to wait around
You know I'll keep you in my locket
Just come here and we can settle down

You and me always forever
We could stay alone together
Hard to say things could be better
Darling don't get away right now

You know you've got me in your pocket
You know just have to wait around
You know I'll keep you in my locket
Just come here and we can settle down

Oh darling it's alarming thing to think of us apart
You know you've got me in your pocket
You know just have to wait around
You know I'll keep you in my locket
Just come here and we could settle down

You and me always forever
We could stay alone together

You and me always forever
We could stay alone together

You and me always forever
We could stay alone together

You and me always forever
We could stay alone together
