Culture Kultür Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I can't see why I'm still here
you can lie to all my senses
but I still can see the light
be around when I ask you to
be around when I tell you so
be around like the hell I'm taking on
The lyrics in Culture Kultür's song "Crossover" are layered with meaning and emotion, creating a powerful message about the struggles of dealing with negativity and falsehoods from others. The opening line "while you're talking about me, I can't see why I'm still here" speaks to the feeling of confusion and uncertainty that can come from being the focus of negative talk. Despite this, the following line "you can lie to all my senses, but I still can see the light" suggests that the singer of the song still holds onto hope and positivity, despite the attempts of others to obscure it with deception.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "be around" in different contexts, highlighting the importance of having trustworthy people in one's life. "Be around when I ask you to, be around when I tell you so" implies a deep longing for support and understanding, while the line "be around like the hell I'm taking on" suggests that the singer is going through a particularly difficult time, perhaps due to the negative talk mentioned earlier. The final line "take me home when no one looks" could be interpreted in different ways, but to me, it speaks to the desire for a safe space where one can be vulnerable and open without judgement.
