Curren$y had an underground hit in 2006, Where Da Cash At, which can be heard on several of Lil' Wayne's mixtapes, including Dedication 2. He was featured on Lil Wayne's song "Grown Man" from the album Tha Carter II. Due to certain issues concerning the release of his album Music 2 Fly 2, he left Young Money and formed his Fly Society crew with professional skateboarder and rapper Terry Kennedy.
He has since focused on his Jets movement, which helped introduce various rappers such as Trademark da Skydiver, Young Roddy, Fendi P and T.Y., as well as slightly reintroduce No Limit veteran Fiend to new audiences. He later started to work in New York with Ski Beatz and other MCs at Dame Dash's DD172; where he released Pilot Talk and its sequel Pilot Talk II both in 2010, and was also featured on several songs on Ski Beatz' 24 Hour Karate School. Since then, Curren$y has put out eight more albums, 25 EPs and 43 mixtapes.

With the fact that most did it prolific not shakin'
Or stirred in da presence of those niggas herbs
They only after ya bread them fuckin' birds
You think they like your haircut fair enough
Live your life patna guess I can keep these two cents in my pocket
And back to these underground rap dollas refused the majors
And stayed real I kept my promise rolled bamboos in the Bahamas

Two game season condo full of snacks spitta not leavin' off
Brand motherfuckas odd numba' you are not even on my level
Write that sickness my ink pen sneezin yancy thigpin
Can't catch me sleepin' you ear hustlin muthafucka
And I'm eatin' creepin' with my side
Bitch hope I don't get caught cheatin' New Orleans
Dis morning new york in this evening squintin'
They eyes and shit they can't see him fly in the house
Buzzin' them bugs can't be him eligible letters in my leger
They can't read him smilin' money pilin' I'm cheesin' odometer
Broken I ain't know that I was speedin' fast livin' slow gin for these bitches
I got that game from my Pittsburgh niggas ? V Diablo 96 ? Daniel son crane kick
In Curren$y's song Breakfast, he presents the image of someone who is unbothered by others' opinions and actions, and who is focused on living life on their own terms. The lyrics speak on the consistency and potency of the beat, emphasizing the impressive skill and resilience of the underground rap scene. He comments on the presence of those who are fake, such as "niggas herbs", who are only after bread, which is a reference to money. The rapper also acknowledges that people might judge him for his haircut or his lifestyle, but he doesn't care because he has his own two cents to keep. He reflects on the life of a rapper and how he has stayed true to himself by refusing to join a major label, but continues to create content that is appreciated by fans.
In the verses, Curren$y makes references to his travels and leisure time in the Bahamas while smoking bamboos. He conveys a nonchalant attitude toward his side so that he won't get caught cheating. The rapper uses wordplay to show off his lyrical skill, with lines like "my ink pen sneezin'" when referring to his writing. He alludes to the fact that he is always on the move, both when comparing New Orleans and New York, and in the metaphorical sense of being a fly in the house, able to go wherever he wants. Curren$y concludes by mentioning the "Pittsburgh niggas" who taught him about broken odometers and slow gin, continuing to celebrate aspects of his life that are not necessarily mainstream.
